That makes no sense. Just because someone replies or doesn't does not make my opinion valid or invalid? A comment doesn't need to be acknowledged to exist as true or untrue, it was just my opinion, they are looking for awards before the thing is even released. It doesn't make any sense, you don't send a half finished work to be judged. I never would, i'd wait till my work was finished and submit it with the quality and standards I deem release worthy. Obviously it's not up to their standards yet or they would have released it and I would have voted for it.
I don't even see how this becomes an argument at all, you don't send a half finished film to be judged for the oscars. Who would?
If you haven't played POE than I could understand why you might say the game is not finished. However, I've been playing for almost a year now and the game is more finished than Diablo 3 ever was.

...The sad part, however, is that all the people who are waiting for OB prob. wont vote for PoE as much compared to open beta.

Just voted. I do hope PoE win this one. GGG deserve it for making us a great game to remember. :D
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

IndieDB awards are hardly Oscars -- you'd be looking at far more predictable titles in that case. Something a little more mainstream. Something from, say, IGN.
Although still a flawed comparison, consider IndieDB awards a form of Cannes. People send unfinished films to Cannes all the time. Apocalypse Now was screened/judged at Cannes in an unfinished form and still won the Golden Palm. People send stuff to Cannes before they have a distributor, and thus can be considered 'indie', although many of them are trying hard to escape the indie scene in picking up a distributor.
So...hm, yeah. Try to think about this in that way. Unfinished films in a viewable state can be judged at Cannes, unfinished/unreleased indie games that are playable can be judged by Indie awards.
__
Sometimes I think I should make a negative, cynical post just to see if the lead dev will respond directly to me too. He's amazing, he really is. No PR dudes shaping his posts, no yes men answering the negative attention in his stead. And of course people take that for granted.
...Amazing.
Wasn't trying to be cynical, or troll or anything. I was just surprised they were submitting a game to be reviewed for awards when it has not been finished, released, or publicly tested.
I guess it's just my own perfectionist standards coming off as cynical. If indie awards get judged on games in beta or close to it, then who am I to judge.
I'm always in support of GGG. I've had many people tell me honest opinions about any art work i've done and though praise is always cool I tended to appreciate it when some one was more "cynical" as you put it I guess. Because it just gives another view point. My opinion wasn't a statement of fact just my perception and reaction to their approach.
I know it's hard for them to do what they do, and I get the PR aspect of it, but I guess on principle I wouldn't submit something until I felt it was finished.
I kind of find a lot of your posts and responses amazing on their own Charan. Most the time instead of feedback you usually just insult people or offer cynical meaningless remarks. I'm not really sure what your role is by the way you present your posts.
I'm pretty blunt though, and most of your posts I find are either you being a yes man like you accuse me of seeking or your just plain insulting anyone who criticizes the developers game. I feel like most the time i'm dealing with a groupie when I deal with you and not a forum mod or some one with anything relevant to say.
