aegis aurora + high block OP

anything to counter this?

Things which get around block (RF, bear trap) or slower attacks so you don't proc Aegis as much. It's very strong but not "OP" from what I can tell so far.
there are no ways that are guaranteed counters now that they took away half the reduced enemy chance to block sword attacks, but bear trap can slow them down, puncture is useful if they dont have anti bleed flasks, and id say good explosive arrow builds can counter them relatively well. mirrored dagger crit builds that have very high crit multiplier using puncture will also kill them but you have to wait until you get a high end crit, which can take some time vs 75% block chance, then let them take huge bleed damage if they move (and if they dont bear trap them)

Maybe I'm crazy but when I respecced my templar if felt like they reduced some block nodes because I could barely hit 70% block WITH tempest shield.

I am actually happy they moved away from swords as the block counter. Would by far prefer something any one can use so that we dont just end up with blockers and sword anti-blockers.
Now they just need to add that thing to balance block.

As it was before tanky builds was totally the way to go max block for attack and spell, low life, aegis aura. Now with the cast on damage taken gems tanks just became far more tanky and got a little stronger offence. If nothing gets changed the pvp tournaments will be over run by tanks that no one can kill (that probably cant kill many other players either).
yeah i wouldnt complain if they restored the anti block nodes over by resolute, but just change them to "reduce enemy block chance by % for melee attacks." that would resurrect the 2her mace/axe builds and drive people away from mainly focusing on block in the first place.

Also you could add a reduced emeny chance to block support gem which would work for all kinds of attacks, or just change block so that you reduce 75% of the damage when you block instead of 100%.

There anti-block sword nodes are still hudge. Taking even 40% of them will reduce the max block to 45%. Morover you may have more block while duelwielding than your shield equiped opponent. The only thing left is to overdamage him - not a big deak for a duelwielder is it?

well in most cases sword wielding builds specialize in high attack speed and that is what aegis aurora specializes in countering. Even with the maximum amount of anti block points( which is 55%) will reduce there block to 34%(33.75 rounded up) even without using multistrike it can be pretty difficult to kill someone who has 5K es and 15k+ armor using a fast weapon. like aimless said you have a much better chance using a real slow sword with high physical dps, that also helps to counter the damage you take from tempest.

other than that, high crit multi dagger builds shouldnt have to much trouble killing them as long as you can get a crit through there 75% block/heavy strike knockback, and crit EA also is another good option because the explosion damage cant be blocked and one you ignite them with a crit its pretty much over as long as you dont start procing there aegis affect.

then again i wouldnt be posting here if they would restore the anti block points over by resolute for sword or even all melee attacks.

something has to be done about block either way.

Good luck using a slow weapon when youre already countered by trigger or casted temporal chains/arctic breath and dealing with moltens + there actual attack aswell. Bottom line is this pvp is so fucked up in certain areas that it needs to be addressed prior to hosting "tournaments". Like first and foremost a more tournament worthy arena with less shit everywhere to reduce desynch. Keep a few walls so players like FireBrand can run their EA builds and to keep things fair. But we don't need pits + other crap all over the place that serve 0 purpose but to create desynch situations.

And thats why its fun. pvp is not suppose to be balanced. 1 OP build will counter another OP build but will fail to a 3rd OP build
