The skeleton gem beeing the reward for killing Brutus on normal I highly doubt you can do it that way... unless you play a GS templar to kill Brutus and get the gem as reward to pass on your summoner. And trading doesn't seem possible either, unless someone loots the gem... which is very luck based and unreliable. But pretty much any gem I come across I bank in the stash, that way any alt's I make have access to a variety of gems. Trading is a easy way to get gems. Of course until the trade window is put in you still have to gamble during the drop-on-the-ground trade system we have now and hope the other person is trust worthy. So far I haven't ever been screwed over in a trade so it hasn't been an issue. But yea, skeletons are an easy way around Brutus. Or Frost Wall as well though that one will take longer since you'll need to spam it a bit more often (unless you combine it with a spell totem for hilarious effects). That won't help you in a turbo HC league, because you wont have other characters ahead of you to get the gems for you.
