You pretty much answered your own question - a 1h weapon with 1.1 aps will be shit no matter if it has 20% more dps. There are no skills unique to axes, no awesome keystones or notables, so why should we use them ? If you're going 2H the Gilded Axe is an awesome base, but 1h they suck.

srs seems like an extremely OP skill in pvp right now, anyone else?

In HLD for sure. Not quite as much in LLD from what I've seen. Still not bad though.

Srs requires you to play smart. Slow the skulls, juke them then clip the caster til they are dead. There are other methods too, like being ranged for example (imagine that). Think about it, the caster is just sitting there with their thumb in their ass spamming skulls that don't immediately approach you....use this to your advantage. Its a lazy pvp build for scrubs.

A dedicated pvp build, with level 28 SRS, block pen, and BIS gear or close to, would be quite formidable. Most of the SRS builds you've seen are probably pve players.

Mine was a far from optimal pvp build but still did quite well against the top players.

I have met an SRS PvPer, if you play smart as Mulla said you can win without too much effort
