When is the graphics overhaul coming?

While I find the current path of exile graphics to be playable, i really do hope they are a placeholder and i think after the devs have rolled out act 3 with open beta, they should focus on the graphics overhaul to make it look more like a true JRPG like this:

Or this:

etc
If you can dish out enough cash to fund another 150 employees for 2-3 years then sure (around 50-60 million dollars) : ) . You have to understand that making games costs a lot of money :P . If it didn't then every game would look like this.

Although if we had the money im sure we would want to go more for the dark rpg look of Witcher 2 instead of the high fantasy fashion show look of the final fantasy series.

Personally though if I want to see amazing CGI I watch a movie. Games are meant for more than just eye candy.

Witcher 2 cost 6-7m$ :)
BTW i think for PoE in terms of art style Dark souls/Demon Souls would be better comparison, though Witcher 2 has much better tech.

Oh wow. Ok well they are a bit of an exception.. I dont understand... how though. 6 mill is enough to pay like 70-80 employees for 1 year.

Although im guessing they arnt including their engine development cost in that. The thing that eats 85% of our programmers time here :P.

Even so they must be very efficient.Impressive.

I know for the FF series games though they spend around 35+ mill.

And they haven't had an extraordinarily good FF since FF9 (FF10 is okay).

I'm curious, what is the games the first 2 images in the thread are from?
Seems I can't answer this without being sarcastic.

So, I'ma go with, "Not sure if serious"
Level Designer/Dungeoneer

Always post a screenshot with /debug command entered into the chat window.

Actually its total cost, with engine made from the ground up, but it was also made in Poland so in Euro based countries or Dollar based countries it would cost 3-4 times more, just because of salaries difference.

And they havent got more than 60 employes from what i remember for most of the development process, actually they had around 25-30 at the beginning, because they were in crisis after Witcher 1 launch, caused by problems with Bioware and Atari.

And yes they efficient :) It was funny when there were announcements of Witcher 2 shots like this

And being able to play Dragon Age 2 demo, in the same time :)

BTW for a game like PoE new lighting engine, shaders and particles effects could completely transform a game, it doesnt even needs that much better assets. It looks even upclose :)

I thought FF14 was a flop way back when?

I never actually tried it for myself.
