I'm probably missing something... but why would you say Lightning Coil is "Dream Gear"?

decent evasion / armour and life, but you can get that from lots of armour.

It frankly looks like crap.

-60 to lightning resists and takes 40% of phys damage as lightning?

Am I taking crazy pills here!?!? I must be missing something obvious... why is this gear not a piece of crap?

dealing with high physical attacks is not

Exactly right. The more damage is converted to Lightning, the better Armor works, the less damage you take in total. Against Reflect in particular, should render it useless against me.

Well, until merc, you don't get gems/links to really use much of anything, sadly. At least, on your first run.

Main Skill as 5L: EK + Faster Projectiles + Added Fire + Life Leech + Increased Rarity / Faster Casting.

Aura 4L: Reduced Mana Cost + Clarity + Hatred + Grace. Might be able to add Determination, depending on nodes (and maybe Alpha's Howl), later on.

Curse: Enfeeble / Temporal Chains / Projectile Weakness. I use Enfeeble for defence instead of Temporal Chain since I don't HAVE Temporal Chains.

Cast on Damage Taken - Enduring Cry - Increased Duration - Molten Shell

Cast on Stun OR Cast on Damage Taken (higher level) - Immortal Call

That's all you really need. The rest is for tricks like Freeze Mines / Proliferation and such.

bump. So far, I'm going for the Shadow side first, and then getting lots of Life Nodes, EB, Cast Speed 3/3/6.

This build is all fine and stuff but.. I want to know about DPS.
I'm really into casters but I don't want to spend "5 minutes" spamming EK on one pack of mobs while running maps.

Any input on this, please?

At level 62, my DPS with the gear posted is about 2500. About half-physical, half-elemental, so Reflect isn't an issue with my defences. I need 1-2 shots for White, 2-3 for Blue, 3-6 for Rares (if they are my level, assuming no curse, no crits).

Haven't reached maps with this build yet, buy I've played a CI EK caster until level 85, and I dealt more damage than a low-life FP caster in my party. I assure you, EK hits HARD.

And best part is the range! I can get to a little bit more than one screen sideways. That's nice, since you sometimes kill things before they even get in range to attack you. With the slow cast speed, you want as much range to make sure you hit before they get close, if you can, and to maximize targets per cast.
