Everyone loves a DD.
https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.
totem + leveled lightning arrow + greater multiple projetiles + arc = BAZZZZUU!
Build of the week #9 - Breaking your face with style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_EcQDOUN9Y

I hope Elemental builds don't clog up the arena, since magic has a history of ignoring Armor and blocking, making you rely on Resistances, which can be negated by Elemental weakness and whatever the other new curses have in store. Glacial Hammer with a two handed weapon has obscenely high DPS for a beginning move xD
"The path of a true warrior is not how strong you become to defeat others; but how strong you become to protect those who matter most."

Yhuma - melee Dagger Shadow

So, if LA currently scales parabolically versus number of clumped targets....

LA+chaining projectiles.... how does its damage scale?

Curious.

You guys sure do love the non-melee builds. My one and only character is a Marauder I got to level 48 first try. Hitting a wall between de-synch and just plain not good enough build second act of ruthless. Wish I'd known that armor was useless from the start. This game needs to come with a warning label that says "warning: Extreme builds required to play melee...stand back and shoot please" I know, get better at the game, but really, it just seems to me that armor should be worth SOMETHING. Energy shield and evasion seem to work, particularly ES. Why not armor? Seems like everytime a new patch comes out playing a straight up melee becomes less attractive.

It's not. Take the "a good offense is a good defense" approach. Take life over armor nodes, and take enduring cry. Armor is basically at best a 50 percent reduction unless you go crazy. Always only take the high armor multipliers, i.e 30 percent armor and skip the tens.

Truth be told Evasion is more worthless unless you take iron reflexes which is basically modified armor. You also want to go up into the regen per a kill mods. You don't want any of the regen per a second mods. As far as I know regen per a second mods are basically worthless as they don't regen against chaos damage. In fact, for marauder its smarter to skip the life mods that are there when you are first leveling behind the regen mods. It basically is a waste of 2 points that you can save and invest later when you come by other life clusters.

Oh ya and you can forget about any single hit skills, those will get you killed in merciless unless you have phenomenal attack speed.

Also, if you are playin a marauder, you need resolute technique. If you want to hit anything it's a good idea. Marauders aren't very good critical damage hitters. I'm sure it can be argued but if you want to life steal then you need to always hit consistently.

Combined with an area of affect skill of some kind aka "cleave, ground slam, lightning strike etc." Generally those are the only viable builds for a marauder. You'll see builds of the week and such but most of them are distance builds, or totems or zombies.

good luck :)
