Alright, I broke out the Facebreakers three days ago and despite having one of those 8-5 jobs, my character is at level 62 after three nights. I know that other people have discovered/contributed to this power leveling setup, but huge thanks to Rathik for codifying it and putting it all into one guide.

I learned a lot from this thread and don't want to be hijacking it, especially since I know less about this game than most. But there were four points that I figured out that were very important to me, and maybe it would help some of the people that, like me, were using this guide for the first time.

Rings and amulets are your most important pieces of gear. Well, after Facebreaker, of course. Anything with "+X-Y Physical Damage" is a huge DPS boost. When I replaced my Blackhearts, my DPS more than doubled. They're a good start, but replace them with something better as soon as you can. The same goes for the Karui Ward, which is great before you go Facebreaker but very meh afterwards.

You don't need life nodes. Of course life nodes aren't bad, but since I was ending this character with a CI build, I decided to forgo them altogether. I was at 800 life facing down Cruel Dominus. Crest of Perandus is huge here, and if you're not doing a lot of life nodes, just keep on using it. Just know what it's good for...it can negate Dominus's big slam, but it can't do anything about Voidbearers, which just destroyed me on Cruel until I got very careful. Definitely not a way to go if you're doing HC, but for Standard if you're careful it works just fine.

Mobility is really important. This probably isn't a shock since it's a melee path, but if you're in a situation where you have ranged enemies spread out and firing at you, it can get uncomfortable. There are a lot of movement speed items recommended, and on early levels if you have them mobility won't be a problem. But when you start replacing these items, you may want to look into something like Lightning Warp/Reduced Duration/Faster Casting.

If you're not working towards a Dexterity-based build, Dexterity can become a problem. I have a couple pairs of The Blood Dance, but I never got to use them. Foxshade is really useful since it has good stats and has +Physical in a chest piece, but it requires a high dexterity too. It might be useful to take a +30 Dex node even if you're intending to respec it later.

Anyway, thanks again. I haven't found very much that's as fun in this game as blowing things up at 8k at level 60 on Merciless Ledge.

Up to 40 really nice, then very slow due to NO amour. Every mob one hits me oO... What to do against that ?
I want to be big and strong like the people having success with their builds, but I'm stuck at 940 dps at level 40 and not seeing where there's room for a huge leap forward.

I've got the right uniques for armor, and what I think are good jewelry for my level, but otherwise, what am I missing? I'm speccing for a CI Reaver but from what I've read, I should still be able to put points into that build without hitting a wall like this.

Hey rathik!

I used this guide for my RF marauder and now im gonna use this for my coc shadow.

Just two questions:
1) Can I replace my chest piece with tabula rasa? Dont have legacy FBs so a six link helps.
2) Replacing MS with faster attacks. Multi strike makes you stop for 1 sec and its worse if you miss the first attack you miss the other two as well. If I was to replace MS with faster attacks, what would be a 6L for infernal blow

Infernal blow+faster attacks+melee splash+ melee phys damage+life leech+blood magic?

Try to go the mana root and not the blood magic.
Get clarity aura and level it accordingly. Replace blood magic with multistrike for super dps.
Life leech can also come from other items.
Play around a bit, remember that you won't have the pool to run many support gems in early levels.

A thought on the second question.

I continued leveling up into a CI Facebreaker Witch after starting this guide about a week ago. In my 6L, I have Infernal Blow + Multistrike + Melee Splash + Melee Phys Damage + Melee Damage on Full Life + Faster Attacks, which is pretty similar to what you're talking about, except for having MDFL in place of Life Leech (it's a CI build).

I just checked the numbers to see what would happen if I replaced Multistrike with a non-damage gem. The answer: I lose 38% of my DPS. The numbers may of course vary due to levels and gear, but you should find something similar. That's how important Multistrike is to this build.

I'd say your best bet if you're going to use a Tabula Rasa is to put in both Faster Attacks and Multistrike. It'll actually go a long way in fixing your problem with that long pause when you fire off Multistrike (I certainly had that problem when I wasn't using FA), and the damage boost is pretty huge.

Of course I'd rethink that whole thing anyway. Like Rathik says, it's expensive to link that many gems. With my set, a level 1 IB would cost 54 mana, increasing to 78 as IB levels. Taking out a gem for Blood Magic would make that even worse, to the point that it might actually be dangerous. Not having a legacy Facebreaker is hardly a deal-breaker...I didn't get legacy until level 60, and I was still progressing very easily, one-shotting small packs of whites and not doing much worse with packs of blues. You don't need a 6L setup that early, and it's probably not even a good idea.
I just finished leveling my second character with this method. What a joy to play. You're just unstoppable. I'm not exactly a careful player and could never play hardcore without changing the way I play, and this was the first time I'd ever gotten into Merciless without dying once. So again, thank you to Rathik for getting this info out there.

I want to talk about Blood Magic, what you need to do to use it, and what it does for you. You definitely want to be using this gem, but it's the fourth red in a linked group and that makes it next to impossible to use at Level 24, when it becomes available.

Level 30 is the key. You can start using Blood Magic then, because you can use Lioneye's Paws, which take RRRR pretty easily. But what this also means is that you're not using your mana for anything anymore. So why not pop a 60% and a 40% aura in somewhere and make some use of it? Hatred and Purity of Elements go pretty well. (Rounding might mean that you need a Reduced Mana as well, but I was leveling one for my final build anyway.)

Besides that, that means you can drop Goldrim, between having the resist aura and presumably changing to resist rings by this time. Which means you can use an armor-based helm and put your RRRR setup there, leaving you free to switch to The Blood Dance at level 44.

So Blood Magic lets you attack all you want without worrying about mana, gives you extra DPS by making auras possible, and allows you to switch later to some pretty good leveling and farming boots if you want to. Can't argue with that.

And finally, I can't say enough about jewelry. Rathik listed all of the uniques in his original post, pieces that you want to hold onto for leveling future characters, but do that with your rings and amulets too. I had this waiting for me from my prior run when I got to level 35:

And what a huge difference it made. They carried me all the way to level 62, when I switched into my target spec.
