Righteous Fire + The Goddess Scorned... Anyone ?
Righteous Fire :
http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Righteous_Fire "You burn for 100% of your maximum Life per second as Fire Damage" "87% more Spell Damage" Goddess Scorned : http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Goddess_Scorned "Cannot be Ignited" Did anyone figured out if "Cannot be ignited" apply to Righteous fire burn damage ? Now, I think I understand why they added the mod "You can only deal Damage with this Weapon". Righteous Fire does not Ignite. Otherwise, the description would say you are Ignited.
Burn and Ignite are mostly unrelated, really. Ignite is a Status Effect caused by Fire Damage. Burn is a damage type (specifically, Fire Damage over Time). The only connection is that the status effect deals Fire Damage over Time. Last edited by Vipermagi#0984 on Sep 6, 2013, 9:22:40 AM

" "You burn for 100% of your maximum Life per second as Fire Damage" Sounds like Ignite to me. Also, Charan said that the developper responsible for unique items said that without "You can only deal Damage with this Weapon", the weapon would be way overpowered. What else could cause the weapon to be overpowered if not immunity to Righteous Fire. Did you try it yourself Vipermagi ? Or do you know for a fact that The Goddess Scorned doesn't prevent Righteous Fire ? " Righteous Fire ignites you. Have you ever used the spell yourself? His question is whether or not the sword changes anything about that behaviour. Since you cant be ignited RF should theoretically not do anything, probably cant even cast it. That would at least be my assumption. |

Burning is a status effect. Ignite is not a status effect - the act of being Ignited is a thing that occurs, and when it does occur, it applies Burning. Righteous Fire skips the ignite and straight-up applies a Burning effect. If the mod was "Take No Burning Damage", Righteous Fire would not hurt you.

" " The spells description disagrees. The question isnt whether or not it hurts your. Its whether or not it even does something. If you cant be ignited, so the burn can never be applied, can you just spam the button and nothing happens? Last edited by nynyny#3398 on Sep 6, 2013, 9:30:26 AM

... Or since "you can only deal damage with this weapon", you cannot deal damage with Righteous Fire.

" Except, Ignite deals Fire Damage over Time based on Fire Damage taken. It does not deal 100% Life as Burn Damage over 1 second :/ It only sounds like Ignite because both deal Fire Damage over Time, I guess? Daggers sound like Maces because they deal Physical damage. " I do know for a fact that I am correct. This has been answered a dozen times. RF does not Ignite, it deals Burn Damage. Being immune to Ignite does not matter, because RF does not Ignite. RF still applies its Buff, you still Burn. The flavor text is meaningless, because it's written by just someone. The technical description, the blue text, tells you exactly what the skill does. It says RF deals Burn Damage. Links. |

" It honestly is kinda funny because RF basically sets you on fire, which literally means igniting. The fact that it burns you is obvious but doesnt have to do anything with igniting something. If something starts burning something ignited it, both are completely different things. They should really reword the text because its common sense to assume that when something burns it had to be ignited to do so in the first place. Last edited by nynyny#3398 on Sep 6, 2013, 9:45:44 AM

Ok, I'm convinced... even though its not intuitive at all.
"Cannot be ignite" doesn't prevent Righteous Fire from damaging yourself, otherwise the "Rise of the Phoenix" shield would also make you immune to Righteous Fire damage. And we know that it doesn't. Now, what would make the Goddess Scorned so powerful that the "You can only deal Damage with this Weapon" mod had to be added ? Also, can you use blood rage with this weapon ? With blood rage, you deal damage to yourself... Can you even use Blood magic ???
