No, it is logical. Hardcore is hardcore. It is a risk, yes. But hardcore is the very definition of risk. So I hope it will stay that way ...

microtransactions are supposed to be outside of this stuff, though.

that's like saying somebody who dies with their $1500 Eternal Weapon effect in hardcore should have it permanently stuck in softcore.

A $1500 dollar weapon effect really can't be compared with a $0.5 skin effect. In the end no one is holding a gun to your head to buy those skin effects. You don't want to take the risk, spend your points on the other effects.

This is the first time they introduce consumable microtransactions. Notice: consumable. So it is a totally different class on its own.

why can't they be compared? they're both things you purchase in the same shop and are things that modify weapons. i don't think comparing pricing alone is enough to justify it.

by that logic, i'd rather have it be more expensive and it not scrubcore the alternate art item if i RIP.

and he meant consumable in the sense that it's 1-use-only, which has nothing to do with the fact that if you reclaim the item, it sends it to a different league (?????)

What is the philosophy behind making a non reclaimable mtx? Is it a money grab? Is there a difference between skin transfer and the other microtransactions? I really hope that this is due to technical limitation and not a design choice. The craziest part is people eat it right up. The player base seems to get stupider by the day.

First in game ads, now shady marketing tactics. The slope is a slippery one.

I would assume the philosophy is offering an affordable way to customize your character and seeing as how you get 50 of them for $20, it's pretty far from a money grab. The difference is these are a one time use, and the others can be reclaimed, which you mentioned in your post.

Also lol at the irony.

Since when is making low cost consumables instead of high cost permanents a shady business?

It's a good way for GGG to make money off people who don't like the Item Effect but want to customize their character. And I am sure some don't want to pay 100$ or more for a permanent (just a guess) if they only use it a few times.

When they first started doing micro transactions they were going to only be consumable. They changed them to permanent with an increase in price. You can only expect they will have some that will come out as consumable still.

It's a pretty legitimate way to make some money. Think of dye's costing money in other games..
I dont know if I missed this question or response somewhere, but will we be able to skin say an ES robe to look like plate? Or an EV/AR helm to look like EV helm etc? Or must they be an exact match both hybrid and pure?
Do I need to buy more of these to use more skinned items at the same time?
Can I use and one handed skin on a one handed weapon?
Like use a wand skin for a sword?
Can't we use the skin transfer to get a free chunk of inventory space..?
Tiki, you dont buy the demigod effect. You do buy the mtx effect. Quite a clear difference.

Edit. Further, if youre wearing the skin of the item, and die, that skin is also gone. If you want, maybe you can keep the base item without the effect.....
