Hey guys
i figure out how to stop blue Screens permanently!
i read about it here: AllAround.cc PoE blueScreen WorkAround
1st: get new Drivers form January 2013 you see it cause they have a A on end of filename!
2nd: get Alchemy
2rd: install both and restart your System.
4th: Use Alchemy to get Path of Exile running with OpenAL!
enjoy the game with out any BSOD!
with best +DS_DV+
PS: for detailed instruction look at my Forum at: AllAround.cc
This worked for me, got a x-fi xtremegamer.

Hi,
i get the Bluescreen every time yes every time i access the Vaal ruins from the river crossing.
I installed a fresh windows with the newest drivers an only path of exile. and the bluescreen just appear on the same situation if i want to access the Vaal Ruins from the River Crossing. Ill try kheelos workaround and see what happens. I have a SB X-FI Soundcard.

I experience BSOD, after switching to desktop and opening Firefox. I'm using a X-Fi soundcard, too.

Hey everyone,
I have been playing PoE without any issues until the most recent patch, which now causes a BSOD screen the second it goes to the black loading screen after hitting "Launch".
I'm tried the --softwareaudio command and that did nothing.
I don't know my specific sound cards but under Device Manager it listed 4 "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" and 1 "Realtek High Definition Audio".
Any other ideas, this sucks not being able to even play...

We'll investigate these regressions and see if we can find the cause. We may need more information, as the --software audio command does seem to still be working for many people. Exact sound card versions, and any information your BSOD spits out would help.
Have you guys looked into the HDMI sound devices added in newer video cards?
I disabled my nvidia HDMI sound device and it seems to have stopped the crashing.
Could there be a conflict with the native sound and the video HDMI added sound device?
I was using a Quadro FX 1800 with no crashing, even though this card did have HDMI, but it uses different firmware than gaming cards.
Once i replaced the Quadro with the GTX 650 ti, I started having problems. Total system crashes (blank screen with looping sounds).
A friend in game has disabled his HDMI device as well, and we're both rolling through the game fine. I'll update if any further crashes occur.

So far so good. This seems to have worked for the GTX 650 ti card. Been playing co-op and going in and out of areas with no problem. Guys, give this a try. Go into device manager and disable your HDMI sound device for nvidia or ati.
[/update]
[update 2]
Not one crash since disabling the nvidia HDMI sound device. Party and group boss killing, going from area to area and no crashes yet. This may be the root of the current crashing issue.
[/update 2]

I'll give this a shot tomorrow - I'm running a NVIDIA HDMI based card as well. I'll report back tomorrow.
