ELE LIGHTNING STRIKE - ALL T16s, Shaper, Uber Atziri, HOGM, Chayula, Elder
When I get close to finishing a league I like to go over my impressions of the build I'm playing and some changes or observations I've made. It's about that time now and since I've pretty much finalized my gear I figured I'd right it up.
First, I'd like to say I enjoyed the build overall. This is my first dodge/ranged character in a long long time so it took me almost 2 weeks to get use to it. I generally play builds that clear and move just a touch slower but can face tank stuff without issue. Because of this I had to adjust my play style and I learned that were mechanics I never knew existed. For example, I never knew Red Elder had degen on the ground. I had over leech last league so I actually died the first time I did him. I was just standing there shooting him and couldn't figure out why I was losing health. I also didn't know that when he locks you in place you degen because I had 7.5k health and again over leech. After playing around with my gear I'm at the same DPS as the OP. Which is roughly 470K Shaper DPS per projectile, no Vaal Haste and no curse. I was even able to match my resists for Wise Oak. If I wanted to drop 100c on a Wrath Pen Watcher's Eye that would go up to a little over 500k. Multistrike VS Ancestral Call I'm amazed at the number of people in this thread who don't use Ancestral Call. I can look up 20 profiles and see maybe 2 or 3 who have it in. It feels so much better while mapping that I don't think I would even enjoy Lightning Strike without it. That stands for a lot of melee skills really when comparing Multistrike vs Ancestral Call. With Multistrike you'll one shot 60% of the pack and then you have to turn this direction to kill of stranglers and then the opposite direction for another couple. With Ancestral Call you'll kill off the entire pack in one shot and maybe have to turn for another couple. Multistrike is still best for single target though and I just swap gems when I need to which to be honest is pretty rarely. How much health do I need I see this question asked here and there regarding this build. I've done Shaper, Guardians and Red Elder(after I learned about the mechanics =]) deathless. I just need to get around to doing Uber Atziri to finish everything up. However, I think you could do all of those on less health. Where I noticed the biggest threat is just high tier maps with multiple bad mods. I've been hit numerous times for 4-4.5k health. I have NEVER been one shot in a map yet even with damage mods, minus resists and elemental weakness. I think you want to aim for at least 5k HP by 90 and preferably around 5.2-5.5 HP by low to mid 90s. Clearing Speed and Shield Charge I'm not really sure why but the OP suggests Whirling Blades and I see most people on here using it. Whirling Blades only scales attack speed but Shield Charge scales both attack speed and movement speed. I can see using Whirling when you're leveling but at end game you absolutely move faster with Shield Charge. Moving faster = clearing faster = more currency per time spent. To go along with that, I see people running 2 or 3 damage flasks. If you one shot packs with only 1 or 2 then you REALLY should be using a double movement speed flask. You are slowing yourself down and making less currency by filling flask slots with unneeded damage. I run a diamond flask and a Wise Oak on things that need it which is T16 Plus. Everything else I dump Wise Oak and use a movement flask instead. I clear MUCH faster with it in place. Blind on Jewels I'm not sure why I don't see anyone else using these on a build like this but you can easily get 10-12% chance to blind on jewels. You give up 1 damage slot on 2 or 3 jewels and you can permanently blind anything that doesn't die in the first few hits. This is in thanks to the attack speed we have. If it doesn't die in the first 2 seconds then it's blinded. That's 20% tacked on to your evade and it cuts a mobs critical chance in half. That's a lot of defense. Best Helm Enchant Technically, I think the best helm enchant is probably piercing. It allows you to run Darkray Vectors which I think give a bit more defense overall, provides 5-10% extra run speed and has that lightning resist roll which makes getting more DPS else where easier. Not to mention the +1 frenzy charge closes any gap the 40% helm enchant would give. Following along the build I would say the 40% Lightning Strike is the most ideal because it works for everything. But I will say I ran the extra projectiles enchant for a week and it absolutely clears maps faster. Ancestral Call and extra projectiles cleared packs faster because you didn't have to turn and aim at stranglers nearly as often. Extra Skill Point I changed the tree slightly from the OP and was able to get an extra skill point with the same damage or more. Take the Nightstalker notable and dump the chain going to Fencing. Then re-arrange the pathing near there to free up 1 point. This allows you to grab another notable at level 94 like Sniper or Point Blank or just a general node for more damage/life. My paste bin so you can see what I'm talking about: https://pastebin.com/iPnkAgCP Last edited by kan333#1064 on Mar 27, 2018, 11:05:49 AM

Thanks Kan glad you enjoyed the build xD and thanks for the awesome feedback I'm sure lots of people will find it very helpful.
Multistrike VS Ancestral Call Yes Ancestral Call no doubt is very good for clearing (and also for single target if you can keep the right distance to double hit projectile + melee hit ala Castablanca's section in guide) - but the main drawback is you will need to play almost in melee distance to use it and thus you are taking more risk. I prefer to just play at range and cut down on the damage exposure. For maps with hard rolls, heavy damage mobs on Alluring Abyss, and for most bosses - it is just much easier to range. Clearing Speed and Shield Charge Yes Shield Charge is good but it really depends on preferences. I prefer Whirling Blades - it feels much smoother and better for dodging. Shield Charge has never felt smooth to me to be honest probably because of the recovery time. And to take up a flask slot for Quicksilver just for movement speed I would prefer not to do that - it's a flask slot that you can use for damage or defense flask like Basalt/Quartz. But yes you're right you will probably clear map faster wtih Shield Charge and putting on more movement speed, especially with AC and/or Deadeye. Blind on Jewels Aye this is a good suggestion I'll add to the guide, and I think it would work really well for your style with Ancestral Call (conversely you'll get better blind procs with Multistrike :D) since you are getting close. Since I play range though the only kinda damage that really bothers me is ranged spells which are pretty much all spell projectiles (this is also part of the reason why I prefer Voidwalker for boots and getting Thraxia on Pantheon). Extra Skill Point Thanks man, good catch. I think you could even take off Sniper and Nullification and use the 4 points to get an extra jewel socket which you can fill with a jewel with same/more life and more dps although I'm getting greedy now xD. Nice Watcher's Eye. Last edited by Ceryneian#3541 on Mar 27, 2018, 5:10:48 PM

" I went with Ascendancy in order Gathering Winds -> Powerful Precision -> Rupture -> Fast and Deadly Fast and deadly is all you ever need in terms of hit chance, even without any accuracy rolls on gear I was at 92% to hit against lvl 84 enemies (Shaper's Realm), so Lycosidae is absolutely not needed and I can replace that with a shield with resis and attack speed/light damage%. I ended up dropping Rupture for Far Shot and specced into Fencing (well the crit chance nodes just before that), Solid option for endgame fights but other than that a bit weak on consistently critting. Chain and pierce are contradicting each other so if I get chain I would neither get Voidwalkers nor Powerful Precision. However I simply don't think 10% more damage is worth losing 110% inc crit chance (which is applied almost always anyway). Voidwalker could be an interesting option, I like Atziri's Step for the spelldodge though, and because they're cheap with any enchantments. Respecced to ST since then, but I'll definitely return to LS because it's hella fun (would be even better if it wouldn't get stuck at every obstacle xD). |

" You're right. The jewel slot does give more HP and DPS if you can give up the 8% all resist. You can run the notables until 94 and then switch it seems. Last edited by kan333#1064 on Mar 27, 2018, 10:49:44 PM

I've just hit 86 and have cleared out all maps up to and including T7 but am struggling with what i should do with the character next to improve it. I had a Belly of the Beast drop last night so will look to 6 link it ASAP but apart from that I'm not sure. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.. Finally starting to get some currency behind me so i can purchase some upgrades just looking for pointers on where it will be best spent first. Last edited by Targwyn#5874 on Mar 28, 2018, 5:17:29 AM

" Hi bud, top priority should be a Lycosidae if you can. A Tombfist if you can wiht 2 sockets, grab some jewels with flat life, swap Jade for Quartz flask, swap Sulphur for Wise Oak or an Atziri's Promise. Also if you can - get your hands on Blood of Karui |

" Hmm I'm at about 4.9APS in town - what APS is your dagger? Last edited by Ceryneian#3541 on Mar 29, 2018, 3:56:09 AM
