Running +100% rarity unique and the very best rarity/unique gear I own. It's not exactly as high as you can get, but it's up there for the amount of wealth this character has access to. I'm running 3 uniques, one of which is rather expensive (gold ring of +57% rarity).

Now, I knew going in - because I talked to a lot of players when I found this map. I was happy. Excited. I didn't think I'd get a chance to use this map. It's a pretty cool/fun concept.

But I don't think it's a valuable or strong unique in its current state. Here's what I got:

-2 rares that might be decent upgrades for my character after i spent chromatics/fusings/jewlers on them (a hat and a shield); they aren't perfect, but they give a lot more energy shield than my current items
-a second (or third? I think I have another on a mule character) dusk blade
-Lots of junky rares (as seen in one of the screen shots I've linked -- believe me, I got at least 10 REALLY crappy rares with tons of mods on them, but the mods are all like level 10~)

When I got this map, I was advised to sell it -- and I thoroughly agree with that advice. I suspected I wouldn't get filthy rich off using this map, even with all the quan/rarity I have, but I was expecting to have some fun using the map. I didn't really, mostly because I was sifting through junk and underwhelmed that none of the chests contained anything.

This item in its current state is a noob trap. If I ever get again, I'll scam a noob and spin him a yarn about the riches inside this map, and milk him for all the GCP and fusings he has -- because that's true wealth. I got like 50 rares, my last screen shot showing the only 3 I was forced to leave behind -- but most of them will end up as vendor food, maybe a few will be saleable for an alchemy or two.

I would personally advise you to make this item more exciting. Here are my suggestions:

--Make the loot in this instance VERY biased. Develop a loot table if you have to. Put some really rare uniques on a slightly higher drop priority.

--Give the map +50% quantity. Currently, the +1800%~ base rarity doesn't seem to do much other than give you a lot of bad rares to haul out. It would make the map much more valuable if you could argue the potential of currency items obtained from this map, due to its increased quantity.

--Put a very unique mod on this item:
<All items that drop from this instance have +1 sockets and +1 links>

This basically means, if a 1 socketed white were to drop, it would actually have 2 sockets and 1 link between them. If a 5 link were to drop, it would become a 6 link. I assure you, I got zero 5 links or 6 links running this map. Hell, I only saw a few 4 links. Potentially, this could introduce a number of 5L into the economy - but then this map would have significant value.

Currently, there is no reason to dump 20 chisels on this thing. It's scarcely worth trading for another unique, because in a best case scenario, you'll get 2 or more uniques from the chests, but hell, I only got one. I'm sure many people end up getting zero. And who's to say those will even be good uniques. I don't think Dusk Blades sell for much.

--If that mod isn't acceptable, would you consider adding a "cosmetic" mod? All items that drop the Vault have a special color on their name, and the item is a weapon or armor, has a weak particle effect/aura on it when worn? Or maybe some kind of other cosmetic effect?

The Map isn't supposed to guarantee you anything... it's a free for all on ilvl 62 drops with no enemies to hinder you.

That's all... nothing more.

It is the biggest bang for your buck in the game, by a huge margin. Best time spent, most drops found with highest possible rarity... but the random number generator still applies. Finding this map and using it doesn't beat the game or something.

I didn't say it should guarantee anything. But it should have value for what it is. This map does not have value.

You get about 30 rares from this map. That's about 15 alchemy. With the potential of getting a random unique or two.

A map like this is special and should feel special. It's novel, but it's not where it should be I feel. It should be a unique people value and seek out; in its current state, only noobs will trade much for it.

It's good that it has risk and randomness attached to it, but it doesn't have much potential for reward; hence it is undervalued. I feel like I get better value out of farming normal maps, especially when you consider the experience gained from a normal map. The potential max gain from this map is quite low for its rarity.

So far, everyone who has run this map has not won out. Kripp got 3 uniques from his second run, which is the most I've heard so far. He was overall disappointed with both runs I think. And a few knowledgeable people I talked to said the same about others who ran the map.

If the map is regarded as disappointing it will not be valued; I think it should be a valuable unique, because of its likely importance in POE's story and because of its... uniqueness.

This won't be the only unique map. It's the first unique Map, and it drops free ilvl62 items.

Getting more will require a different unique Map that you actually have to fight through.

IIQ/IIR from your gear does not affect chests, so there's not point in "gearing up" for the Vaults of Atziri. You may as well wear nothing at all so you can carry more stuff out.

......wait. What? This is news to me. Change it so it does please. I was under the impression that IIQ/IIR from gear affected all drops for the character and the support gems only affect the monster kills.

Why bother carrying more stuff out when all the drops are garbage >.>
I'd support the idea that item aquisition mods from gear should also work for chest drops.

Beside this, as said, the unique Vaults map is a "free" gift: of a huge bunch of ilevel 62 stuff, and given by the sheer amount, it also offers a huge chance of very useful (base) items for crafts, and of other nice drops with higher rarity too. Its all about chances here, you know? ;)

I like the way it is. I think it would be unfair if you had to have mf gear to get profit from this map.

You're right, then why bother picking up yellows in the first place... And then why bother playing the game ?
