Trading levelled characters
I am posing this topic to get some views. Given we are encouraged to barter items, is GGG open to bartering for levelled characters?
Given opening an account is expected to be costless in OB and beyond, there is one advantage of keeping one character per account. That is, once you've levelled them, you can trade/sell/barter it to someone else for whatever items(s) your heart desires. One obvious disadvantage (trading convenience) of the one-character-per-account option may be mitigated by the web trading system expected to be implemented. I wonder if this will become de rigueur post OB. I also wonder what GGG's stance is on this? Petrov. |

What is the point in trading a character with skill points invested in the way the original player wanted them ? Leveling a character to reach end game is easy enough, and after that the real fun starts - proving your build is viable by grinding as high as possible.

I'd say it's possible that if you have good enough gear and the 100 allstat amulet to raise a character to 50-60. You just have to kill the bosses with your main (multiboxing), and grind for everything else.
There could also be requests, eg. someone says "level up a character with this spec" and gives a link to the build. I think trying out new builds is fun, the experimentation and all. On the other hand, I find the leveling somewhat boring. But if the developers want value to be had in the characters' levels, there has to be investment. In this case, it's time. I'm indifferent on the policy needed here. It doesn't seem to be really damaging to the economy (unless it's for RL cash), and it would be hard to enforce. You can't track who plays the account and ban according to it, you'll get too many false positives. I'm still curious for the official policy though. |

I think there might be some request like these at end game (level 80+). I am not sure would that violate "pay to win", but I guess someone put their hardwork in the first place, so arguably it might not violate the game intention.
I think this can be done for a flat fee, and make this legal if needed, since there might be lots of excuse (my brother was playing my account, and etc.). |

I completely agree that levelling is where a lot of the fun is.
I'm just curious if someone has a few accounts with separate high level characters, is it within GGG's terms of play to allow someone to sell that levelled character/account to a third party for in-game barter? I can say without a shadow of a doubt I won't be doing it as I have neither the time nor inclination, but I thought clarity on whether it is OK or not was worth clarifying for everyone. Petrov. |

During closed beta, it probably falls under the "please don't share beta accounts" rules as something that we don't allow.
As for Open Beta and beyond, we haven't yet posted a policy on this. It's a good point, and we'll make sure to address it. | |
Power leveling characters for people who don't know how to play but just want their "gamer cred" is even worse than simply twinking them out or walking them through content.
It breeds a generation of "gamers" who are interested in nothing but the best stuff, the brightest dazzle, and the easiest content. Call it the Diablo 3 generation perhaps. What we need is to teach new gamers how to play, give them pointers on how not to die, maybe throw them tip on where to farm for a good item, or how to survive a certain boss, and then let them die, let them look as bad as they are, until finally they get GOOD, and having worked for it actually value the challenge a game presents, and the skill fake players pretend to have with store bought characters. |

I'd like to see some sort of (heavily-restricted) official character trade option... It hasn't cause a complete collapse in EVE. (The bots did that. :V)
It'd need to be highly restrictive (EG: Can only trade for other characters within 1-2 levels) in order to prevent magically rushing people through the game. Or, better yet, make it a cash-shop thing. Really want to trade your Marauder for their Templar? Each player pays $1. But, I can see a handful of cases where this could be useful: High-end guild play, name-trading, and simply boredom with a character. |
