Edward Snowden... why this should be a major topic of dicussion!

I'd support a constitutional amendment that says no one with the name Clinton or Bush is ever allowed to run for president again.

and what about Obama....
We can throw him in there too. He is the worst of them. I just left him out because he is the least likely to have a family member run again.

You'll hear some armpits of the internet say he will pull some executive order postponing the next election so he will stay in power.... While I am sure he would like to I don't see that happening.

the real problem is it was highly supported due to 9/11 propaganda when the umbrella for all this shit was being passed. Aka The Patriot Act.

Of course anyone that was against it was a communist terrorist...just ask Bush. How could you not support it...it is called The PATRIOT Act. Clearly not supporting it meant you were not a patriot. Fucking idgits gobbled it up too.

No, it was passed, admist cries from people not buying the propaganda bullshit, that it was going to be used to spy on americans...but ya misdirection. Clearly stomping on gay rights and the need for high power semi automatic rifles for home protection (wtf btw) took precedence.
Hey...is this thing on?

The more important topic of discussion should be, "Why do we continually allow psychopaths and sociopaths to gain positions of power?"

Don't we learn?

I am totally serious, it's like we can break down mankind into effectively two different species. The predators, the sociopaths and the psychopaths, and the prey, what most would consider normal people.

Can normal people even function without these predators? It seems like we (normals) desire slavery. Is it some kind of natural evolution of the species due to not being prey to another species? If there's one conclusion I can draw from nature it's that increasingly evolved intelligence means increasingly evolved evil, or at least, capacity for evil.

The apex predators feast and the sheep are too useless to do anything about it.

These are not separate species: proof.
When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

I certainly know about that experiment (hardly comprehensive knowledge though), but I'm really not sure I can consider that as irrefutable or extensive, general proof as such. All kinds of factors and dispositions play into results there, the sample size is tiny, people and study could be skewed for all we know. Though I'll grant you that we may tend toward evil.

Tbh, the experiment and similar mini-experiments told me much more about authority and compliance than anything else.

Edit:
I also didn't mean it as genuinely different species, of course, rather that there are differences between typically normal people and typically socio/psychopaths that we have some trouble identifying or something, or don't want to identify.
If what you got from that experiment was anything other than evil is largely positional, not personal; that how we design our social structures determines how they shape us; that absolute power corrupts absolutely; and that power should be controlled through a system of checks and balances, as the US Constitution attempts to do... well then, you missed the point.

I'm not trying to say this is all sociological determinism here, because it isn't. We design our social systems; our social systems shape us. It's a feedback loop. Sometimes our designs are exclusively for personal use; individualism is still alive and well, it's not a purely collective task. But good and evil are in everyone, waiting to be brought out.

Yeah I agree with this, mostly. It is exactly that personal, introspective result or reaction that I wonder about, it's hard to quantify. A person can be in a shit position and be forced to do crappy things and feel remorse, have a sense of empathy....or naturally be or conditioned to be without it.
