A "Reclaim All" button would also be a handy option, but I generally would only reclaim 1 or 2 effects at a time myself.

+1 For this approach, just grey out the MTX when in use.
If 'return all' was the only option it would be equally frustrating when your multiple characters lose everything when you only wanted to retrieve one or two MTXs.

This would have saved me a good half hour when I upgraded from divine pack to exalted. I didn't have the faintest idea where I had left that weapon effect but I had to reclaim it before I could upgrade.
