" The way things feel like they're progressing, early 2011 could be anything from January to September. Forum Sheriff

When they show us the improved overlay map and give info about decided death and itemization systems, I'll be sure closed beta is very close.
Also GGG have been very accurate with their news release date predictions so far and I assume there won't be a different situation for the closed beta. Pretty sure they want to get into the beta phase as soon as possible. He who fights with monsters
might take care lest he thereby become a monster. |

I have no problem being patient. Especially if I'm waiting for a FREE game that looks amazing. It's nice to see some devs taking their time and waiting to release a refined product (even if it is just the Beta), instead of rushing an unpolished piece of crap out to the masses.
This is my first post, but it won't be my last. I was an avid D2 player for many years and have been waiting for PoE ever since I read about it about 7-8 months ago. I'd just like to say thanks to the guys at GGG for giving me something to look forward to in the world of PC gaming. Everything I've seen thus far looks great, so keep up the good work! | |
" Which news announcements are you referring to? The only one I can think of was the Witch and that came out a week after they said they would release it. If you recall they said "a big announcement will be made next week". And then next week came and went and it was only the week after that PCgamer posted the Witch announcement. To be completely frank we all knew what the announcement would be anyway. The only question was what the spellcaster would be called and what it would look like. From that perspective, it was hardly worth the hype that it got. If you actually think about it we know almost nothing about PoE. We know the general vagaries of the different mechanics but there is no specific information on anything. Not to mention that most of what we do know is from a version of the game that's about 6 months old. I realize that PoE is still in development and that things will likely change but I know there are many thing by this point that will not change. Take the passive skill tree for example. It's not like they're going to suddenly get rid of it at this point in development but we know nothing about it other than that it exists. Nothing. I could sum up all the public information about PoE in a couple of paragraphs. And that is really disappointing. Forum Sheriff

I didn't say announcements. I just said "news". Screenshot of the weeks, dev diaries, leagues, a few hours delayed (because of pcgamer) witch announcement etc.
Yes, they have been accurate with news release date predictions. Also I want you to explain "the skill system" in 2 paragraphs for me but if I see anything unexplained you'll lose. Besides you should remember that devs announced the game only 4 months ago. He who fights with monsters

I can wait a long while longer, though I would love a new video sometime soon =)
