I was wondering why life leach or life on hit don't work with tempest shield.
I know it is considered an aura. and that would be the only reason (right) But it also says, it lashes out to do lighting damage. so would it not be a damage supply also. sorry if I answered it myself. I am just more curios than anything else. |

Hi, it is not really considered an aura despite reserving mana... Idk what it is, a buff with built-in damage (spell), I guess.

Are you sure that life leech is not working with it? I don't see any reason why it would not.

btw... since we are on the subject of tempest shield i have been tinkering with a 75% block/spell block build
mainly due to it blocking reflect and the question is this will the damage from tempest shield get reflected? and if so does that create an near infinite loop? (since there is a 25% chance the loop gets broken) Last edited by agbudar#4976 on May 27, 2013, 9:06:34 PM

It doesn't "hit", and those effects are triggered on hit.

"Actually, it does. It hits the enemy for lightning spell damage when you block. Life Gain on hit is explicitly only for attacks, not spells. Life leech on gear is similarly restricted only to attacks. Life leech (from the support gem) does work with tempest shield. " cool so how does it work exactly with elemental reflect? lets say the mob does elemental damage with an elemental reflect and i block said attack/spell and tempest shield proc's on block does damage said creep will that just keep going until i fail a block? |

"the underlined part never happens. Reflected damage is part of your hit, not the enemy hitting you. Your block chance is checked to avoid the damage, but you didn't' block a hit of damage from an enemy and tempest shield therefore does not do anything. | |

the best thing i can see adding to tempest shield is elemental proliferation + culling strike with high block toon... if u really want to go that far. u add shock stacks and cull on block ...sounds pretty op if u ask me.
