Steam Charts looking Bleak for 0.2.0

After launch it took until the end of February for PoE 2s player count to dip below 100k players.

For 0.2.0 the player count has dipped below 100k now twice less than 2 weeks into the league.

This league is going to get absolutely nuked within 3 weeks or it dies in the vine.

You mean how many people come back when they announce the patch that's going to make the endgame playable and not a busted dumpster.

I didn't want to outright say that but yes this is what I was implying. It is actually a perfect storm for Last Epoch and it turns out it was a good thing they had to push the update back. It apparently wasn't on anyone's bingo cards that GGG was going to boof the league to this extent. LE is easily going to get 10% more players than if they had kept the original date and dawn of the hunt was never released.

Issue is GGG already looked like the bad guy for their launch day encroaching on LEs. If they announce a patch to fix everything on top of LE actual launch then I'm not sure you could even make the case that your not trying to harm their studio. So basically GGG is either the villain or they sit on their thumbs and let this league rot. Total fuck up.
Do you guys like, play games? I mean, if you find the game is fun, then what does it matter what the steam numbers say? And if you don't find the game fun, then would it getting better steam numbers make you less likely to drop it?

Also I am not exactly sure what's surprising about these numbers. Player interest will drop after the first release. The update will make it return but player interest will drop faster since as good or bad of an update it is, it is not a 100% novel experience compared to the original release. And when LE league drops, active players will of course shift to LE. But guess what? Then a PoE or PoE 2 league will drop and the opposite will happen. And then the opposite will happen, again!
I gave up, game is too boring. I'll follow the updates, but this is definitely not the month+ of hardcore gaming I did in almost every league in PoE 1

I can play games for fun. The fun in this game is tied to a certain value proposition of time played vs progress on a a character made. When that value proposition falls out of proportion I stop. I check charts to see if sentiment is echoed and it usually is. I play a lot so I'm usually ahead of the curve on charts by a few days or a week. If I want to play a game there the value proposition is enjoyment for the time spent I would play Sekiro or something that isn't a grind based game.

The numbers are really bad. This is early access and in there second league and cannot sustain the hype for more than a week before dipping into the "Panic Zone" of player count and engagement.

PoE 2 will announce a patch. People will come back. But it will dip even faster below the 100k benchmark every subsequent times it happens this is not actually sustainable. So if you enjoy it, and want it sustained, then sitting on your thumb with rose colored glasses on telling yourself it's all fine is actually a quicker path to ruin than trying to be logical and analytical about it.

So in short, no I just don't play games. This isn't rock paper scissors.
