Jonathan, you cannot make the campaign fun to run over and over for many players

Right now I have 9 characters: Titan, Stormweaver, Minionleader, Deadeye, Invoker, Amazon, Ritualist, Lich all above level 90, and a Mercenary only goes to charpt 2.

I can't do Mercenary anymore, I just tired of playing campain, really. It just torturing.

All I hope I could get 60~65 points to get to the endgames. Even if I could buy this.
I dont know... any game that I cared about that put in a "campaign skip" or close enough equivalent became bad (to me at least). Not immediately, but eventually.

Im not going to argue about it anymore.

There seems to be at least a very vocal part of players that like to skip things so devs seem to like putting skips in. I just at least personally think skipping in general is bad.

Its all skips these days.

What is the logic behind this? PoE1 has a massive amount of fans that probably spend 5-10% of a league in the campaign, and love that style. This 50% number seems completely arbitrary. What is even the point of an endgame if the campaign is engaging content for 6-8 weeks?

of course, that's a fair question. I come from D2 (mainly, in recent years, the PD2 mod which borrows a lot of PoE ideas such as corruption and maps), and in that game it's the same - everyone wants to get to the end.

I don't have a GREAT answer for "where is the logic" to be honest, my vision is a bit abstract after all.

where I'm coming from though, is this: it feels like the ARPG meta is long overdue for some kind of refreshment. as I said above, this concept of skipping the campaign has been around since at least Diablo II (25 years).

maybe what I'm asking for is a combination of MMORPG and ARPG, which is not really relevant to your topic, so I apologize.

BTW, I'm all for skipping campaign, or trivializing it on subsequent characters in a league, for SC tradies at least it seems necessary.

I hope they never add any kind of campaign skip because it is going to completely kill the game even for people like OP because they don't understand the psychology behind things. Mapping isn't really that interesting. The only reason it has any staying power is because you're rewarded with it for working your way through the campaign. I know you wont understand this concept but it will have a more devastating effect on the game than buying a max level character in an MMO.

1000 times this.

I'm really glad Jonathan and Mark are heading the development of this game. I've never seen devs with better communication and a sense of direction they want from a game.

OP has some decent suggestions which are more like optional fast-forwards than skips, or maybe just a different way to get your 2nd, 3rd (if you're crazy enough to make that many characters in a league) class to the end.

I feel like it's fine, especially for SC tradies, us HC/SSF HC don't really care what they do. it could definitely be a case of, grass is greener, they get what they think they want and then hate it, sort of thing. I agree with the earlier post about OP maybe not understanding the psychological aspect of it. it's a bit like a child who wants to skip dinner and have cake (not saying OP is childish, just a metaphor).

but I could be saying that through the lens of my experience and what I know about myself, subjectively, maybe people exist who would actually enjoy the game more if they could create characters at level 60 and literally skip the entire campaign.

one thing that's hard for me to observe and ignore though is this: are these players getting bored so fast that 1 week into a league they are wanting to start a new character and so results the complaints of campaign being boring? is everything just boring? because that's a personal issue, not a game issue. that's an issue with your own expectations and ability to find pleasure in life itself.

Yeah... idiots said this about infinite delve too, and it was fantastic.
Here is an idea.
Jonathan take my money and give me instant campaign clear :)

campaign is so fkin slow in 0.2 it's making me lose my sanity.
i don't even want to create another character anymore like i did in 0.1
I knew this was coming. In POE1 the campaign was seen as the tutorial and people ran it as fast as possible. Now that it is 50x harder and longer they will want a skip like diablo 3.
The stage at which you're progressing your character the most, theorycrafting your build and finding your first successes with it should not simply be skipped. It's realistically most fun part in fact. Unless you can't enjoy the journey, but that makes for a miserable life overall.

Where do you need to rush for in a video game? What do you exactly win by being at the end or using the most meta build? Enjoy it in YOUR way, because it will only get worse then.

Reaching the destination is fun for couple of minutes, from that point there is only way down. I'm sure you experienced this already, but can't pinpoint where is that hollow feeling coming from.

Yup. It was just a question of time. In PoE 1, people complained, but not too much, and you could run the campaign in just a few hours, so it wasn't a big deal. (Personally, I liked running the campaign. But I enjoy speed running.)
In PoE 2, it's just too slow and involved for that.
Even the people, who supposedly love it, how much will they love it on their 100th playthrough, or their 1000th...
