Directional aiming on console.
Anyone else have problems with being able to use the right stick to aim in a different direction from the direction you’re moving. My character will often turn around and attack in a different direction from where I aim. Last patch I played grenades so I never noticed anything like this but playing lightning spear this patch, you throw one projectile and when my character decides to turn around and throw it a a random straggler behind me instead of the whole pack in front of me it reeeaallly sucks. I’m literally holding the right stick in the direction I want to attack and my character just won’t attack that way sometimes. Has gotten my killed numerous times now. Is there anything that can do to change/fix this?

There is the Focus Fire option (you can bind it in the bind menu). That option is hit or miss imo.
Also there was another menu, I swear I'm not going crazy, that had like four different aiming/targeting behaviors you could change. I ended up turning a couple of them off and it felt better for me using bow. I can't for the life of me find that menu, but if I do I'll edit. |

Ah yeah, I found it, it's at the very left of the bind menu, it says targeting mode.
It's set to default, but i changed that to ranged. Then on the 4 checkboxes, I only have the 3rd check box selected. I also do not have focus fire active. Feels good for me, try playing with the options if it doesn't work for you. |

Yo thank you so much lol. I feel like the need to put this on the options menu or something, I’m sure these are settings a lot of people would like to adjust and they most likely won’t find it being where it is.

" After 20 hours or so, to me it didnt seem to make a difference at all. I would simply prefer "twin stick" game style with no soft-lock at all but a pointer that will cast either at maximum distance or first enemy hit, or with the projectile traveling that direction. Solves all problems for controllers (except for some edge cases like frost ball into frost nova). |

Yeah the auto aim isn't great. If you work at it you can make it "work" but it's unreliable. The way I've been able to deal with it, is to treat every character like they are melee. Targeting things in melee range seems to be the most reliable.
There needs to be a way to disable auto aim entirely. |

Skill issue aim better and time better.

" Skill solution for a bad technical implementation? Demanding for something working better is a valid request, especially since controllers are totally not the same as a mouse that is the main input device the company knows. Try aiming for a specific target behind the wall of flesh that is in front of you: without "holding + aim" which costs you the most important ressource "time" you wont be hitting that target. Technical solution: this game already is a twin stick shooter, auto target snapping is not really required. |
