There's nothing stopping you from using a staff on a huntress, guys. It's pretty damn good, in fact.

You could also use a 2h Mace I guess, but why would anyone do that to themselves lmao

Ok can I use spear skills with a mace

No, but none of the spear skills would really make sense with a pike either because they're all designed around the short spear concept. OP and others were talking about wanting to make a badass melee fighter valkyrie-type character, which right now means staves. 2h swords would probably work even better once the Duelist is in the game, but we ain't got those yet. Early Access, and all that.

No they're not. Viper uses a two-handed spear and it would work just fine with every skill we have. A "pike" is not a two-handed spear it is a specialized formation fighting spear.

bros got a point we would love twohanded spears but you would not be able to throw it or smth
i had hoped huntress would be that. and it could have, with 2 handed spear options that pushed more to melee then ranged. right now, the huntress feels the most forced into a particular niche of all the characters.

I've been playing a str/dex huntress with mostly melee bleed skills, and ranged just for cheese. There was nothing stopping me for making her a tank. Sure, if there were two handed spears the immediate damage would go up, but the bleed adds enough over time to compensate. And having a large shield on the off hand adds a ton of defense that I wouldn't give up for more instant gratification.
Impatience is insatiable.

everything I've considered just comes out as a scuffed version of something better elsewhere, if your build is visible on profile, i'll have a peak.

but there is an angle of thematic's too. a niche that is not getting hit. which is an aspect of designing each class and ascendancy, we don't need to vibe with all of them as players, but each one is designed to suit a different player and style.

currently im tolerant of, but nothing is like dam, thats my class/ascendancy on a theme level. 2 handed spears would have probably hit the spot pretty close and i doubt im the only one who has been looking for that more melee, str centric, female based class.

There is no 2h version of spears because the entire archetype is balanced around parry bonus damage. It adds 3-4 physical damage to your attacks per 5 evasion on your shield, which basically turns the spear into a two-hander. (This is bad btw)

yeah, kinda the point, its very forced in a sense, and not very poe in that nature.

i don't mind that parry exists, spears are my go to weapon if i can, but this si the first time 2handed versions aren't there.

keep in mind too, there is a thematic component to what i was hoping to see for poe 2, im a women with a preference to playing melee strength characters, i would have liked (not have to be, but just would be nice) to have that str based female character which doesnt seem possible now as the slots are filled. so i settled on trying to see if i could get a dex based spear user to be the gigalass the game lacks in the character select, without 2 handed versions for spears though its very difficult to get that vibe. and the alternate weapons always come out feeling scuffed with all the extra travel in the tree, maybe there is something in there thats really cool, but its certainly not standing out and certainly not to be found in 1hand spear and buckler/parry play in my opinion.

I was really only looking forward to two-handed spears. This 1h parry thing is so lame.
