i think the vision of the makers of that video is wrong.
though, trying to change the rules to your favour to win is a valid strategy, maybe they could create their own game, there is some glimpse of creativity there which could be put to good use for the community. they could boost the shit out of their own game, never nerf a thing, let power creep get damage numbers through the roof. maybe there are players who like games where you clear screens of mobs just by coffing in front of the monitor age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I think the general problem is when they see a build do 100M dps, instead of nerfing the things that push it over the top, they nerf everything remotely related to it.
So if you had a building doing 2M dps, using similar supports or gear, you get nerfed along with the 100M dps guys. In one patch they also nerfed mid-tier builds by up to 90%, in a single patch. Bleed EQ gladiator is just one example of a patch that got hit with a 89 to 91% reduction in top dps in ONE patch. (support gem nerf same patch as elder weapon bleed removed and tree rebalance) The concept of rebalancing and nerfs is fine. The implementation is chaotic, unexplained, not well targeted on real problems, not balanced by improving trash builds, and just... sloppy. |

Balance is balance. They can always adjust, and will probably get it right in a year or two. The worst thing about PoE2 isn't the balance, though.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

" I think D3 was a really good example of what happens to a game if devs don't pay attention to balance. Game dies quick as people lose interest faster as they achieve everything much easier and faster the more power gets introduced. We do even sort of see the same result in PoE1, just in a smaller scale of players quitting faster as they achieve their goals much quicker thanks to the small packs of new introduced player power with each league but no real impactful balance changes beyond minor specific changes to some skills. Been actually a while since we had any real big balance changes. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

This is how it is supposed to work, seems many people can't understand the psychology of the reward system.
This is fishing, selection, to only keep those who are getting addicted to abuse/pain... These players are the ones who will waste their time and spend the most money. As simple as that. The "vision" is working like intended: It is still legal (without explicit and repeated warnings, regulations, or mandatory breaks...) yet, in many countries. My issue is they put out a game season 1 that people paid more and more into after they saw work product, then they did a complete 180 with the game and this is 100% not what I paid to support. Nowhere did I see all of these visions and directions people are talking about when I made a purchase. I saw gameplay and game style that is now gone.

" While this is generally true, we need to consider that D3 had two distinct phases. Phase one vanilla was when D3 was arguably the most difficult ARPG ever created. Mobs in inferno act 2 onwards would regularly one-shot, were very quick and easily swarm you. Gear upgrades were non-existent and you had to farm enough gold to buy your stuff. So, very much like PoE2 in spirit. Phase two started when AH/RMAH was scrapped in favour of SSF mode as default with higher drop rates. I've been through both phases and there is a certain charm about a really difficult game but it can wear off if you feel you're not being rewarded for the effort you put in. |

My thing that irritates me, is just the blanket nerfs. GGG & PoE 2 as of late has been showing its lack of experience. Chris ran PoE 1, the new director for PoE 2, this must be his first game to fully direct or something. Cause 0.1.0 vs 0.2.0 is just god awful design decisions. Unless his "vision" was that of pissing everyone off and murdering any fun that was in 0.1.x.
Tweak builds, but things like WHITE MOBS taking 15 hits to die, or the SPEED of mobs vs us, which is STILL A PROBLEM , is outta control. They say "slower game play" blah blah blah, but they refuse to slow mobs down too. Just stupid things like that. WHY give us a roll if we cant get away from trash mobs ? And PoE 1 being ignored is really irritating me. Their gonna lose me entirely as a customer cause their neglecting the GOOD GAME and focusing on the BAD GAME! |
