I always loved thorns builds and thanks to you I want to play this in the season. But may I ask how you do the Trial of Sekhemas with this? Appreciate your effort :D

First ascendancy you can do it with shield charge + stomping ground quite easily

Haven't done the third one yet, probably a bit harder, I guess you need to block a lot

Also some boss are pretty horrible, Zalmarath in cruel is awfull
Leveling guide please..
Mess with the best, die like the rest..
Gave up and went 80% block, much smoother and can clear T15s really easily now

hey i'm building a thorn build and i see there is some thorn rune "tempered rune" but i cant find any in the trade site or at alva, did they remove it (if they either exist at all) ?

First trial was easy. The second sekhemas I haven't been able to do yet. Chaos was easy. I'm just waiting on next week's midway patch so we can do chaos at 65. Sekhemas is doable, I've seen other breeze through it. Maybe I'm just 😞

Don't know on that one. Far as I know should be easy with Alva
I played thorn warbringer in 0.1, I build it again. (yeah... I'm a masochist)

A few major problem
1) is that Pale King unique is a MUST HAVE!
I think it should be a key node, and the uniqes "power" is that you can free up the skillpoint investment.

2) Power-escaaltion and powercreep.
In 0.1 endgame escalated so much that after t14 map even with 2.5k hp, 18-20k armor, 64% block chance and resistance capped white mobs started to pop me out. Thorn is about learning what you can facetank, but endgame everything oneshotted me. Not graduately seeing my health going down, its respawn screen...
I hope in 0.2 endgame will be more balanced. I don't want the build to be OP, don't want to speedrun maps, but fld discouraging that couldn't even unlock the "premium atlas points"
Im afraid endgame will be like that again. Thorn is a meme build since every damage oneshots you. Sadly that's what we get if endgame demigod defenses are the baseline.
Aka how can you give players challenge if every class is on res cap, have 80% to nullify any damage while they regenerate full hp in a second?
Yep... translate Binding of Isaac - The Lost gameplay to arpg (aka 1 hp bullethell)

3) Often I had to stand still.
Its good that I can kill those pesky annoying ranged enemies, but realized that MovementSpeed is a hidden defensive mechanic. You don't get damage if you don't connect with the projectile. As thorn warrior it was the opposite: I had to stand still so the projectile actually reached me. XD

4) In 0.1 Spiked armor was bugged, or not communicated the intended way of use.
In 0.2 [Spiked Armor] and [Revenge] is reworked. Still needs a few point to test it, but in 0.1 the following problem was present:
[Revenge] now gives 3% of body armor as thorn.
But skills and stats that increased armor did not transleted to more thorn. So
[Sturdy Metal] (body armor 80% more body armor)
Titans [Stone skill] 50% more body armor
did not gave you extra thorns at all.
So we can assume any defensive skill that gives more armor was ignored too...



Thorn wont be your "main" damage source, so its not an OTP build, but a welcoming main damage source indeed. And now we have a few gems that boosts thorn finally. [Barbs] [Quilthorns]

So far I see 3 path of thorn focus build:
a) crit thorn
most popular but needs 2 uniques

b) armor brake
In 0.1 I went with [Resolute technique] (guaranteed hit, but cant crit)
Grabbed every node in reach the increase physical and global damage.
Downside was that I felt my options of other damage were limited.
Like: No point to use sunder since cant crit,
aftershocks slam gems are like wet noodle without all the aftershock nodes
and fire damage skills felt lackluster since it feels those skills are balanced around funneling your skillpoint to that direction.

c) I was just thinking about it, but Fire-Thorn
Get [Avatar of Fire] and you get a better combination with magma shield - herald of fire - armor explosion



Just reached the level where I can put skillpoint both to
[Sturdy metal] - body armor increased by 80%
And [Revenge] - you get 3% of body armor as thorn.

My thorn value is unchanged after learning the skill...
Would be good to know if this is intended or an oversight?

Intended. All it cares about is the flat armour on the body.
I'm not too sure if that's intentional. The notables Spectral Ward + Beastial Skin synergize, as do Subterfuge Mask + Luminated Crown.
