GPU for Poe 2 - whar graphic card should I buy?
Hi everyone!
I'm experiencing performance issues in Path of Exile 2 while playing with other people and recording. My current specs are: CPU: Intel Core i9-11900K GPU: RTX 3060 Ti RAM: 32GB Res: 3840x1440p In single-player, everything runs just ok, feels fairly smooth with few random drops and statters, which is fine for me. Dlss does great job here. The problem arises in multiplayer – the FPSrate drops significantly, pressing record button cuts another 10 frames off. I would like it to run 60+ frames in full party, while recording in Nvidia app(default video settings). Can this be done by simply upgrading GPu in my setup? Couse 11900k still OK for game like Diablo right? If yes what should i buy? 3080,5070,7090...? 3080 is super cheap, 3080ti as well and I can get it 2 streets from my place - but - I'm just not sure it will manage 60fps at 3840x1440/default settings/Nvidia reply. Thanks for any advice! Last bumped on May 14, 2025, 8:04:41 AM

"Unfortunately, no. CPU is king for PoE and your best bet would be a 9800X3D (or 9950X3D) - even then you won't get 60fps in a full party. Not even a 4090 / 5090 will change that. Since you're playing at 2160p I'd suggest getting something with 16GB VRAM. A RTX 4070 Super Ti, 4080 / 4080 Super or a AMD 7900XT(X), 9070XT go a long way. Personally I prefer Nvidia over AMD because DLSS 4 is amazing and that can be used in PoE 2 right now. AMD's FSR4 looks promising but you'd have to wait for GGG to patch that in. On that note, if you can get it for msrp, the 9070XT is crazy good value though. Last edited by Ulsarek#7159 on Mar 19, 2025, 2:57:30 PM

GPU doesn't matter and for some reason they overloaded the CPU needs like crazy.
This game is very weirdly optimized and the cpu<>gpu relationship fps spikes from certain particle effects, of which you can't get rid of are infuriating. Stack 3 ice walls and blow them all up with a skill, it fps spikes every single time, even on the very lowest of settings. They should allow Tencent/China to optimize the game if they can't be bothered. Last edited by TrunktenUK#3407 on Mar 19, 2025, 4:33:19 PM

" I'm running a 9950x3d on 5090 between 120-155fps 4090 gets you 90-130ish https://imgur.com/a/v3MhJ9Q Last edited by Hydrotricithline#7583 on May 12, 2025, 8:25:07 PM

Its not just replacing/upgrading the GPU, POE2 is heavily cpu dependant, i see tou already have an i9 so thats is already good, on GPU find something updated with larger VRAM like 16GB above.
But even after all that, the GPU setting might need some tweaking since POE 2 has this knack of sudden ramping up the GPU Fans either due to GPU temp or VRAM utilisation. Some undervolting or tweaking Fan curve setting might solve it I ran a R7 5800x with RTX 3080 (yeah, VRAM small, i know) and i lost count on how many times my GPU fan went Jet like turbo when on heavy visual effect i.e. In Rituals/Simulacrum/Breach. Even with undervolting and plating with the fan curve Hope you fine a good GPU |

The game does not run well on any graphic card....
i have 2 computers, wife and mine, nvidia and amd both run Diablo 4 and all other games very nice.. Just POE2 has weird FPS drops like 150FPS down to 40 FPS... So there is no card that runs this game well... |

" I posted earlier in this thread about CPU demands but I've just recently learned the network and shader downloads on this game are extremely demanding. Open all ports that this game requires and make sure your network connection is perfect. Follow this video guide on making PoE2 the highest internet priority on your PC (the process is "PathOfExileSteam.exe"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH7_xdCAIHw&t=193s Fingers crossed you should see your shaders load in a lot faster for far less of those fps spikes. Also on your virus/web shield make an exception to the shaders folders just to be clean I guess. Last edited by TrunktenUK#3407 on May 13, 2025, 3:54:54 AM

It will cost you a lot if you want constant and very high FPS in PoE2, the game is not optimized yet so you can also wait until it runs better.
