Warning for Ultra widescreen Mod after I disabled it

I can agree with what you described and the action to take to try out and see what happens. Last Epoch gives you LOTS of loot. And it makes a very large difference of gameplay. But this game has trading (which they say is a competitive part of the game and a reason to ban 32:9) that may be an issue to more loot. That is probably what kills that side of the game. I don't like going on a website to trade for gear myself. Even WoW did better with trading and it's an older game. Thing is, when I felt behind on gear, I just traded for better and POOF, my character just did awesome. Now to me, what I just described in that last sentence above^. IS CHEATING. I personally was not doing all well sometimes (especially end game) with my character when I played (due to gear). I simply traded for better and VOILA! I kick butt all around, there wasn't much better I could become. I'm not top tier. But I can place up there with many if I wanted. So, I dunno...I went from maybe out of 10000 players endgame (as an example) around 7000 on my own, to probably 1000 and under when I traded. How is that^ NOT worse than me using 32:9!?!?!?!?!?!?!? This is WHY I bash their decision SO dang hard. It wasn't my 32:9 that took me to the top. But their allowed trading system. And guess what. I didn't care and was fine with trading. I didn't call myself cheating for that either, even though it took me thousands of positions ahead from where I was. Heck, I WANTED to do that. That was my choice, my fun, I accepted that it would take me alot higher than what I was, etc... But if they wanted to ban cheating in the game, Trading is MUCH worse than me owning a 32:9 screen monitor. |

im pretty sure they know how silly it is to ban 32:9 and they probably stopped thinking about it already. they just dont care about us few people. its just a potential problem they could easily tick off of their list and move on to work on bigger problems to solve.
and thats what we gonna do too, ticking off the game of our list and move on to other games. i had a good 500 hours of fun at release and thats most likely it. (could have been thousands of hours tho, but yeah, its not in my hands) |

In the meanwhile, while we're on this, why not standardize other stuff?
Something to avoid people getting mechanical keyboards or mouses where you have more than two buttons or can control the DPI. High refresh rate is a competitive advantage, so we could force the game to run at 30 frames per second to make it a fair playing field for all folks. What about a baseline 200ms of network latency? I think a lot of people play on the go, so that may help level things quite a bit. Honestly, what the heck. Last edited by Deevian#5771 on Apr 21, 2025, 2:52:20 PM

" Yep, everything you mention here would even be much bigger advantages than ultrawide is, which is what makes the situation interpretable in no other way than "hardware discrimination". We would literally be satisfied with a half-baked solution, like what the ultrawide mod provided, which means it would take a single developer less than a days work to build a solution. Almost 8k people downloaded the mod, which means its affecting more people than that. I didn't download the mod until I was 500 hours into the game, so I'm assuming a lot of ultrawide players never even went out of their way to get it despite being disappointed by the lack of it. I don't think that's an insignificant amount of players to alienate in this manner. @Legend#8685 It's difficult to imagine that them considering it "cheating" to use ultrawide aspect ratio has anything to do with trading as that doesn't explain why its also not allowed in SSF, which doesn't have trade. I suppose its speculation exactly what their reasoning behind it is as we have complete silence on it from their side, however it seems clear that them deciding to crack down on ultrawide mod usage as a ban-able offence was very specifically an effort to try to make the speed run events more "fair". Its clear they used the data from those events to nerf a ton of broken shit. I just wish they would also use the data to evaluate the level of advantage we are talking about when it comes to wider aspect ratios, because its very obvious from that how completely ridiculous all of this is :) |

every other company: we implemented 32:9 support for you, thumbs up thanks
ggg: cheater! funny is actually when i play with black bars on some maps i can see text written in the black, like waypoint or something so its totally working fine, they just put the black ontop of it |

intentionally taking away the fun and joy for some people. this game just looks gorgeous in 32:9 and GGG should actually embrace that instead of shutting people down for enjoying the game at its best.

Purposely biting the hand that feeds them. I had a woman who did that to me once. Left her right away. She went with another man after, had like 3 kids, split up, became poor to live in some shelters and havn't heard or seen from her since.
What does GGG think would happen in a situation like that? The game has been reviewed online by many influencers. Many showing the "mostly negative" reviews as the game changed. All of them, including us, are telling them WHY. We're using our words and communicating back to them. Just because we all know a game is early access, doesn't mean you can screw it over heavily. People don't at all always come back. When you lose them, they're gone onto something else. You don't need to take everyone's words about many changes they'd like to see, but you can grab like unto a census from that. A single person vision for a game is also not a good path, but a person who could vision the game for many is. There's a good amount of reasons why this game is failing the way it is. I had a friend who tried playing again, just for the heck of it to see the truth of all what's going on. He stated of freezing problems that caused crashes. Game was sluggish again. He didn't have that before the patch. Leveling was VERY slow. I could imagine on the very large maps of the game, how nasty that could be in the combo put together^. He didn't last very long through that^ and quit again. Sure you can make a harder difficulty, etc... But as I stated before, and again after that, and will again now, it MUST be FUN! It's just not. As stated before, take fun away, the game dies. Fun is also a broad word when you have a large variety of people you're serving. This is why a single person vision is bad. It needs to be a reverse thought process of that, how may I serve the many? I am and many here, are a part of that "many". My fun, not even talking of the patch on my end cause I didn't even get to that point due to loss of 32:9, was taken away by the loss of 32:9. The one vision, hurts the many. All this is simple Logic thinking. Even common sense. So how will the game ever come back from its downfall? I really have no clue without some kind of major change in the company upon how things are going. In its current state, it's already proving it can't. And I think many see it. I would assume alot of us are pretty hardcore gamers in some way. Being that, we can sniff out things in games that newcomers are yet to adjust too. We can tell many things by playing a game for a bit and already know the outcome of the "fun" factor. But again, that word is broad for the many. So a person who can manipulate that broad word into something narrower is what is needed. You cannot, again, base fun off of a single person vision. That's like myself making a game "I" think is fun. There'll be many who probably won't like it lol. So I'd have to think in other peoples vision of the game and somehow involve them into my own vision and from there, create a single path. If I can somehow grab bits and pieces of all together, I can create a single masterpiece. A nice example, Palworld. My slow continuing rant^ lol This is SO silly. Not supporting users with 32:9. lololol So ridiculous. Let's not support the airforce cause they chose to have things that fly lol. Let's chop off our hand cause it's not meant for walking. Who does this? Apparently GGG. |

I think PoE 2 has a balancing paradox because the difference between a weapon (and items in general) with good affixes and a weapon with bad (or no) affixes is too great. This means that perfect balance is too sluggish with bad gear and completely trivial with good gear. And as a result they have to limit the currency and loot you get. I think what I would suggest is to severely nerf low tier affixes but increase the amount of currency and quality of loot you find.
But anyways, I'm having a ton of fun playing Oblivion Remastered at Master difficulty at the moment. Looks totally amazing in 32:9 aspect ratio. Anyone else playing it while waiting for 32:9 support in PoE2? :) |

i recently got myself hitman: world of assassination. works natively in 32:9 and looks and plays awesome. Oblivion remastered is already on my list. one masterpiece at the time. Path of exile 2 is not on this list anymore, as you might have guessed. :D

" yeah, same, I was really excited about PoE 2 when it released, but that excitement is pretty far gone for me and I'm not even sure I'd come back if they implement ultrawide support at this point. Hitman Absolution is one of my favorite games of all time. I love when games dare to be more mature and that game has some pretty adult themes for a "mainstream" game (like BDSM and sexy assassin-nuns). I believe Sony bought the IP after Absolution, and I just assumed that automatically killed the developers ability to be daring in that way and I couldn't get myself excited for what I expected would be a PG version of the franchise, lol. But I have no idea if those assumptions were correct? |
