" Anecdotal I know, BUT When I was a younger developer I worked for a small but very successful IT outfit selling IT services. There were two owners. One owned the sales side and the other owned the tech side. Co owners. The guy who owned the tech side had family issues, big ones. Cancer in the immediate family. So he sold his portion of the company to vulture capitalists. In one year the place was entirely different. Most of the staff was gone. Myself included. They had tech leads on proprietary tech running under the hood they never even bothered to interview us about. Me being one of them never got on a single call with the new owners. That's how they ran the show. They essentially were gutting the work force and trying to sell the company on baloney data about how good the company was doing minus all the people who made the company so good to begin with. In less than 1 year the company cratered, lost most of its clientele and went into buyout after buyout. The whole office built up by the prior owner was abandoned. So when you say well a new lead isn't the end of the world keep in mind sometimes it actually is the end of a good thing. Not saying Jonathan is the equivalent of a group of vulture capitalists. But these things tend to spiral very quickly. |
