Did the DEVS just give up???

They had Acts 1-3 then attached a proto end-game to it.

Problem is not in end game itself, but it how skills work and how monsters are balanced around that. Skills force everyone to play POE1. Powercreep is huge, AOE is insane. It starts even in A2 already and then becomes just worse. If you give players a lot of AOE everywhere and tons of monsters to delete - game dies right there.

Game is interesting only when combat is interesting. And combat is interesting when every single monster means something. And when there is AOE and 200 monsters on the screen - there is no more combat. There is cookie clicker. No matter if fast cookie clicker or slow. It is already braindead.

Thank you! I have always felt that the games are better when you actually have to pay attention to the monster type, their abilities, and how to combat them. There are only a handful of memorable mobs in the game, the rest are all basically the same chaff.

Proto might not have been the best word. More like stitched PoE1 on the back-end of what they actually had been developing. Much of what you say I've said for years.

At this point I feel like the Arch Bishop of Anti-Enemy Density preaching. I do it here. I do it on Warframe. Every game that falls down that same rabbit hole.

If I recall you read my Diablo 1 post a while back. It's not hard from that to figure out the type of ARPG I enjoy. I want cover to matter, I want each enemy type to matter, I want immersion.

They gave up on fixing 0.1, so they are just working on 0.2.
