You can always just leave the map and start a new one. Honestly the single death thing is fine its the same for solo players and there should not be an inherent benefit granted to people playing with friends that they can keep playing a map as long as 1 person doesn't die.

I do agree with you that you should make atlas skill tree progression while playing together though and get your boss kill rewards. I can't see atlas map progression being in any way related though or you would be chained to the person with the least progression which doesn't exactly benefit anyone. Having a shared guild map would be nice though accessed through the guild hideout would be a huge win for everyone both co-op and solo

No the single death thing is not fine, it's only fine for singleplayer...
They need to scrap that and add a new penalty if they still feel it's needed.

I've been complaining about loosing friends to this assinine mechanic for a while now and it's far worse then just someone sitting there with a thumb up their ass... any map mechanics like Ritual and Expedition need the host/party leader whatever you wana call it so if the host dies then those mechanics die along with them...

But it shouldn't be the same as solo players. When you die in the campaign while playing solo the map resets. But when you're playing in a party the map only resets if all players in the party die. That is one of the advantages of playing in a party, and should not be lost simply because the campaign has run out of content. And, of course, there are downsides to balance party play such as the enemy difficulty being increased, and for the sake of balance I would expect that to continue in the Atlas maps as well.
Cripes, the fact that coop is one-attempt as well is just another reason why they REALLY need to junk this one-attempt bullshit. Exp penalty is bad enough when 10% is an hour+ of gameplay.
