Race Announcement is a giant "Get Lost" to the majority of players
BAD GGG BAD !!!
While we are waiting for weeks (month) for an economy reset and content and stability patch (not to mention insta-trading or AH). You are devoting your ressources and a whole page of announcement about a race that would only matter for an handfull of streamers and full time PoE players. Way to indicate to your player base what you care for, all that is basically equal to a major "screw you" to every new player, casual and 95.00% of the 600k people that played the game. You have a business to run, but you'd rather insult and ignore the mass of paying customer to catter to a tiny winy number of experten. I have a scoop for you: vast majority of people that buyed the EA only care for the campaign and solo experience. They want QoL, they want content, they want balance, they want Auction House (yeah I said it, deal with it). Stop trying to turn your game into a fantasy ESport that it will never succeed at. And fire your commercial and marketing service because the damage it did to your property is aggravating. But I get what you meant, PoE2 is not for me, so, I understand. I will stop logging in, not purchase anything and go play something else while I wait for Act 4,5,6. There is a lot a very nice games and season incoming in ARPG, that's a chance... Im trying to see the good side, at last they say that in 1 month we will be getting a new patch.
I try not to be anxious about it, loving the game, want new content soon, LoL. |

POE2 is early access, it's probably going to be cooking for 2 more years. It's not, and was never going to, have a steady content cadence to keep you occupied. They're. Still. Making. It. It's not like they can just stop doing anything for POE1 after already neglecting it for a few months? POE1 is going to return to being their cash cow each league again until a major update comes to POE2 with the economy reset and adding in large amounts of the unfinished content.

I don't even know what to say honestly :))
I did not even understood properly this race. Do we have to start from scratch in Hardcore Solo-Self-Funding and speed run to ACT3 to kill Doryiani? If yes, then that's not for me :)) I barely have time to play once between monday-friday, and only around 2-3 hours in the weekend I'll definatelly try it, but I'll fail missrably and I am ok with that :)))) |

This race is not a competition between PoE2 players, it's a competition between maybe a dozen ultra-top-tier creators/streamers/professionals.
They could do a Kirac's Vault style "achieve X goal in under Y /played time" and you get a reward. They could do multiple tiers of this, IE if you do it in 6 hours your reward is better than if you do it in 12. That would encourage people to re-roll and keep trying to hit metrics while the race was on. They could do these things while keeping the "real time, first actual" rewards AS-IS and it wouldn't change anything for those top 0.0000001%ers. There's a handful of things they've done in previous races, even just simple titles. All absent. 99.9999999% of PoE2 players have absolutely zero chance of winning anything at all. This "race" is literally no different for you and me than just starting an SSF character. This could be an actual huge benefit for PoE2, to sort of force players to re-engage with the campaign, provide GGG with lots of "how fast can people do this" information, from across the playerbase spectrum. They could re-engage a substantially dwindled playerbase that's half-uninterested in Phrecia because they never played PoE anyway. Instead, they decided to exclude 99.999999% of their playerbase. They aren't even doing a twitch drop for us plebs for watching. It's intensely underwhelming and borderline insulting. Last edited by LVC1FR#4407 on Feb 20, 2025, 10:34:25 AM

According to the doomsayers, the only people left playing the game are bots, and no-lifers. Why make an event for the people that aren't playing the game?

" This game won't be for everyone like GGG said it would be, it will be for a niche of players, just like PoE1. I still had hope that PoE2 would be a better game than 1, but it's the same thing, just with a lot of bad mechanics. GGG made several promises as if this game was something innovative and very different, but in the end it was just an outbreak of a company that is no longer the same, that in the end only cares about bots and the money that RMT generates. If GGG changes this market and adds an AH, we will see the number of players drop a lot, without all the bots and players with multiple accounts. |

" lol lets stop jumping to either extremes. most people including me self (casual dad) would have loved to do something interesting while i wait for the 1 month 0.2 patch. i think someone made a great post theres so many ways this could have been implemented that engages all the community in hype for 0.2 release. Even a crappy skin and an achievement that says you managed to complete it across multiple sittings... would have sufficed. the issue this event seems like its out of touch with the player base. its maanaged to annony poe1 players and poe2 players LOL that in itself deserves an award. |

" Could you list a few of these promises? " You are aware what a race is, right? Not everyone wins in a race, and giving everyone a prize for simply participating is even more wrong. I get that you want something to do different, we all do. Making a event that will make the masses happy will only delay the patch that we're all desperately waiting for. |
