Announcing the First Path of Exile 2 Race Event

Yeah, great, an event for 0.01% of people... Personally, I'm not even gonna try this shit.

I don't understand why you don't do things like this for "objectives" that need to be met and when met there is a reward, and with the demigod helm when all objectives are met (for example). That way even people who go to work and aren't that skilled at "rush" leveling would be rewarded and you would make them happy... Instead you do this.

Huge thumbs down for me.

how about an actual event that offers content? Nobody wants to race against no life streamers whose job is to play poe for 300 hours a month. cmon GGG

It says "First to Beat Doryani in Act 3"

That does not take 300 hours, for anyone. Not even you.

But only people that play more than 300 hours a month have any chance at winning this event, because you need the training, knowledge and skill.

And if you have no chance to win then the event is just : "Play SSF up to act 3 with a new character with a timeout each time you die for no reward nor peculiar reason." So, basically more of a nerf than even a non-event.

I am fine with just one copy of the actual item per class. But it would be very good idea if e.g. top 10% or top 20% finishes get the cosmetic. Or a different cosmetic.

With how it is set up right now, I have no intention or incentive to take part. If that would be top 20% finishes, at the very least I would have any hope to win something. It would make the event exciting for me. Now, I don't care.

(I have ~300hrs in the game and I still believe I have exactly 0% chance to win this race).
Event for the 00,1% hardcore players while the hundreds of thousen who know there is nothing in this for them is left in the dark. One more game decision thats beyond my understanding when it comes to game design. Seems like a stunt for streamer pr then anything else? With all the RNG and other strange and frustrating punishing time sinks all over the game they at least show who the game are for..

Sounds fun, but personally would prefer this being hardcore. The penalty isn't sufficient to punish 100% glass cannon builds.

HC would also mean that the pro-streamers don't necessarily win, as they might die (the race would actually be a tradeoff between survivability and damage).

This way it would be much more inclusive to the player community.

100% this!

Make races Hc' again, make the objective shorter (the first races at least), and let them run long enough that it's still worth it to give it a 2. or 3. or... X. shot if you die early. Give us a ssf stash where items carry over, but only count the time /character. And most importantly ofcourse, give out prices to not only the top performers.

Easy formula for a more broadly engaging community event.

And what you propose? Make the reward so common that is worth less than a wisdom scroll?

I wonder why theres only 3 medals at olympics or other sport events. Should not everyone get a gold medal?

Thats a ridiculous comparison.

Olypmics are an invitational-only event for the already top competitors, where the only place for the common folk is to sit and watch.
As of the current design, this event feels quite the same.

Instead of Olympics, this should be the half-marathon you get in your local Town where you have a handful of actual competitors and a bunch of random locals just joining in for the challenge of reaching the finish at all.
Medals to those who earned them, but still, everyone in that marathon gets some form of "recognition", from their friends and family in the crowd cheering for them, and some whatever pad on the shoulder for surviving until the end, even if it's 4 hours later than the top finishers.

Thats also why the event should be hc, challenge yourself "how far" you can go, and get better next time, speed is just a bonus.
But this way, there would still be a sense of accomplishment for getting through it (which could easily be rewarded from ggg with "something", not a demigod ofc) and one wouldn't feel senseless for just speeding through like a maniac but still ending nowhere close to top performers, with nothing to gain.

In general, it's a bit alarming to see that GGG feels like players would have more fun getting stunned for a minute constantly (as this would still heavily favour ultra-glasscannon playstile) then trying to "actually" tackle the game in an offensive/devensiv balanced tactical approach.

Almost as if they are telling us that the game isn't even meant to be beatable in hc and the best way to play is just rushing through and excepting the inevitable death's on the road.

imagine anouncing a race for act3 boss cause the game has no endgame content.

You obviously have no idea what racing has been historically in POE or when and where this idea originated. Even in current POE1 races (Exilecon) they usually only race until the end of Act 5.

It never ceases to amaze me how people here will bitch and moan about absolutely everything possible because they as a particular player-type do not get their cookie.

I cannot win the race? Lets bitch about it.
No freebies for everyone? Lets bitch about it.
The race does not add endgame content to EA? Lets bitch about it.

How do you people survive real life? Not everything has to cater to your specific preferences. And no, I will not participate in this race nor would I have a chance, but I still think it is cool that they are adding this a sort of an hommage to the very old days. And if it is just to tide over until the next big patch who tf cares.

An hommage to the old days..., oh man, how I would love it.

Racing Season.., descend.., good times.

Unfortunately, this is not an hommage but worse than a rip-off.

I think the race is good idea implemented poorly. At first I thought 'great a race scheduled for 2pm, let me just take a day off work to participate' then my brain started working and stopped just reacting and I saw its all on Sundays. Fine. Then I realized that I'll never win so there's no point. GGG you've got people that regularly speed run your games, what hope do most of us have to compete with that?
If you had just announced this as a Invitational E-sport event that we could watch on Twitch you'd probably have less backlash and we'd have just said cool and cheered on our favorite streamer.
Then you add in a bit of perceived player power. Not that i think its all that important in a single player game, as long as its achievable in game via normal means. But you should really understand the nature of the internet by now. Even if you are owned by the "do you guys not have phones" company. Should just be a cosmetic item. I've seen no one even talking about the Laptop, probably because players who actually can win already have machines that crush that thing.

GGG we don't complain because we think you are Blizzard, we complain and get mad because we hold you to a higher standard than Blizzard. When Blizz does something crappy or corporate that screws over its players, or lies to them, players just respond: *shrug* "Eh that what I expect of them" We no longer hold Blizzard to a standard, they're just another billion dollar soulless corporation that only cares about $$ and how to maximize profit.
But you GGG we still think of you rightly or wrongly as a Game Developer. Blizz isn't a developer anymore they're just a company. You are Devs. You are trusted. You aren't supposed to lie or string you players along for months.
Ive run out of things to say.
The race is a fine idea I'm just not gonna participate. I'll watch Ziz stream it.
my feedback is awful
