It's Time to Talk About "Proximal Tangibility"

Look, I like this game. I also get frustrated when I see things that are not executed properly. I don't have a problem with the way "Proximal Tangibility" plays out as a stat trait on unique monster. I have a problem with the way it was presented. First time I came across an enemy with the PT trait I was in the middle of combat with respawning enemies and couldn't read it. I couldn't figure out how to get rid of that unique enemy and assumed it had to do with evasion. When I finally read the stat trait in combat, I'm just thinking to myself, "proximal" like proximity? Okay?! I have to be close..

There are lot's of English words like proximal which has it's Latin roots. It's just, what kind of normal person would describe something in such a weird manner that makes you question the roots of the word itself? There are better modern derivations of the Latin word proximus in the English language that can better describe a modern game function such as PT. The problem with this terminology is that there are too many ways to misinterpret it when it's next to another word like, I don't know.. "Tangibility"..

There's a reason we use modern variations of Latin in English and that's to clarify the meaning.

The naval mine exploded due to proximity detonation..

The naval mine exploded due to a proximal detonation trigger..

"Proximal" is typically used in medical, anatomical, or relative spatial contexts, whereas "proximity" refers to nearness in a more general sense.

Whoever named this feature "Proximal Tangibility", it made sense to your brain because you made it. No one speaking the English language uses the word proximal like that unless it has to do with a medical procedure. We all know what's it means but it's weird just like the person who made it. I'm not a fan of weird developer taste.

Again, I like this game it has so much potential. And then you got to get weird like that.. NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT! Bro?!

It's ok, it's a feedback. You're in your right to do so.

But seriously out of all the problem the game have you had to nitpick the detail that barely anyone (if any aside from you) care about?

English is not my first language and when I read that trait it didn't take long to assume it's meaning because of how it worked.
The issue I have with it is that it seems to show up as an affix on half or more of all rare mobs in every map I do. This is beyond annoying, especially playing as a ranged class.
Yea, some mods are annoying. Personnaly I twitch each time I see a mana siphon mobs because my only EHP is mana.

But in a way it's ok, some mobs should push you to accomodate your fighting style otherwise it will just become an easy slaughterfest.
As a warrior, I wouldn't ask for stuff meant to counter my class to be changed. Otherwise, I'd be asking for all ranged attacks to be removed from the game.
My issue with PT is I'll nuke an area and the rare will be at 5% life so I nuke more...and nothing happens. Evidently they don't benefit from PT until they've been engaged? It's another effect that isn't recognizable instantly. Either visual or audio cues need to be given, which goes back to the visual clutter issue really.
PT also seems to have some odd behaviour with enemy hitboxes as well. It almost seems to NOT scale the range of PT based on the enemies size. This leads to large enemies (the big "cage" enemy that spams a melee spin attack for example) almost having zero space to stand within the PT range.

1 rare with a large hit box and faster attacks can make it impossible for certain ranged builds to even attack the enemy at all - spin to win "cage" enemy can chain stagger/stun many ranged CI builds.
Endgame I had an encounter with a rare enemy containing Proximal Tangibility and Evasion. My first encounter with PT and it made me doubt myself at first. Once you realize how the mechanic works it's not too bad, I guess.. It's just it hit my brain weird when I first read it in the middle of combat.

I just got one-shotted by end-game colossus boss variant only tier-3.. I'm learning Bros.. Stay in the middle... Egh...

i found native english speakers to have way more problems with contextual understanding. i think its easier for people that learned more than one language because its how you.. learn languages.
Let’s talk about Buttered sausage!
