What it would take for GGG to get this POE1 player back?
Thanks for the bump

Yes PLEASE.
Delve, scarabs, harvest and real crafting are my biggest dreams. |

" I don't care how many other ppl agree with points from your list or how many ppl would disagree with my view, that has zero impact on my opinion, but it's not narrow-minded. In fact, I've read your list, so I know your view, but you dismiss me as narrow-minded without even knowing my side. That's... narrow-minded. |

" I think it is narrow minded because you offer no content. Just sit there and say no. I know its problematic for the newcomers here but POE1 is widely considered the BEST ARPG ever made. Content creator after content creator, game critic after game critic rate it as S tier, only commenting that it is complex and hard to get into. GGG didn't try to smooth out the complexity and difficulty, they threw the proverbial baby out the window with the bath water. |

" lol...wut? No its not. Its one of the most polarizing arpgs ever. And I'm someone who absolutely loves it. TO me it certainly is S-tier, but literally everyone who plays PoE 1 knows its still a "niche" arpg. It is probably THE most hotly contested arpg in the world of arpgs: love it or hate it, with very little middle ground. That quoted statement is off-the-charts wrong. Reputable game critics have historically middled PoE. You can't be making daily rage threads and not have the basic facts right dude. " Who is the newcomer you are talking about? And btw, the "newcomers" would be right, "Path of Exile" is NOT widely considered the BEST ARPG ever made, that's how many PoE1 vets rate this game, but in reality (outside of this community) it's niche. So, here is my "no" in long: " Screen-wide clearing is something we already had in PoE1, even on "non-endgame giga gear" builds. Just use a flask, unique, skill, proliferate - BOOM - there goes your screen. Ridiculous power (becoming a god) is literally the goal of the end game in this ARPG. " I pushed all classes into endgame and some even twice for the second ascendancy, and played slow and zoomer builds, but not a single one had problems doing the content. You - not having a good character should not result in nerfing the game, it should result in you - improving it. " Tbh., if you already died in the map, why would you be able to go in again? You lost your life there. Furthermore, if something is in the map that kills you it will probably kill you again. Sure, you could say "But I died to a ground effect (explosion)", but then your carelessness is what gets punished. " Well, actually... every crafting system is a "slot machine", anyway. The crafting system itself is not the core issue, we have a deterministic way to craft items, the problem is - it's not accessible how it should be atm, but that's a balance issue. For what do you want a crafting bench? The small crafts for "res" or "life" are basically in the game as "runes" - mods on top of your affixes. For the "meta crafting"? That's already in the game in the form of runes. Again, the system is there, the accessibility is the problem. " Nobody forces you to explore in all directions. If you want to "delve" just path south, period. Getting stronger the further you get - and not based on the waystone tier - would do what? Ah yes... it would soft-lock you when your build isn't strong enough. If you are only able to handle "lower tier" content, but already finished everything there - then you cannot progress any further. That's why we use map/waystones with tiers so you can choose/select/adjust depending on your power. " Ditching waystones is addressed in the point above and have you realised that the "waystone - node" window has 4 slots? You can guess if we will get stuff like scarabs to put in or not. Hint, Act 4-6 are missing where other mechanics are in for late game. " Harvest was a mistake, the end. " SOME maps are a bit too big, but a 50% reduction is mental. Checkpoints are only in the game because many ppl don't understand/learn the layouts, then miss stuff and are vocal about their skill issue, not because the maps actually need checkpoints. I never ever used a checkpoint and I only need to "backtrack" every 50th caused by my own stupidity. " While fighting more bosses is great because, well, fighting more bosses - a boss in every single map would cause them to get their loot nerfed. If you prefer that, ok, I rather have the choice of having fewer bosses and if I want more to invest in it with tablets, but keeping the loot. " All skills are useable, but for the benefit of the doubt - I guess you meant "only 4-5 skills per class are useable as the main skill" and to that, not every skill is meant to be viable as a main skill. For example, "Eye of Winter" is just a skill to support your build in a specific way, not for clearing the game. That has always been the case with skills, some are supportive, some are early game, and some are late game. " We only got half the classes, skills, uniques, etc. "Righteous Fire" will probably introduced with the "Templar". So just wait. " Again, the power fantasy is a core philosophy of "Path of Exile". If you don't like it - don't play these OP builds. I, myself, prefer builds that have to play the mechanics too, so I play these builds. " I mean, you already have "5 million of them" in your stash, so just use one of them. But hey, a vendor for lower "Uncut Gems" is nothing I would care about if they put it in. " Being technically able to 6-link all your skills doesn't mean ppl have to. Allocating more supports to all of your skills will result in higher cost (Mana/Spirit), so the system is balancing itself, but you have the choice if you want. " They want you to make a decision and not "Scattershot" or "40% more damage" on every single one of your damage skills. Like it or not, but even without all the gems we already have enough variety to create good combinations. " That's the entire point. If you want to take stuff that's from a different area you need to invest in "travel nodes". The gain is "you get something from somewhere else" the trade-off is "you spend points to travel there". Making this "fit" in the most efficient way is the challenge for you. " Life nodes on the Passive Tree would directly nerf "Life-based" builds because these builds need life and then had to drop other "Non-Life" nodes (weaken their build) to get them. Buffing "Life" outside the Passive Tree should be the solution. " I have to admit, I overlooked this point. I agree with you on that. The "Atlas Tree" atm is horrible in many ways. It's "backwards" progress, it's not engaging, not rewarding at a great pace etc. But I assumed that the recent Atlas is more like a placeholder to have one, instead of what they are going for release. But again, I agree with that, it's a valid point with no reasonable counter-argument. |

Sounds to me you want them to stop working on PoE2 and go back to PoE, which is barely hovering between 6-8k players daily.
That would end GGG as a studio. They need to make more money. |

I hear the naysayers to this post and I disagree with all you say. This game is hemorrhaging players, now down 80% from peak and there are always those player ready to ride the plane into the ground on the basis of emotionalism.
POE1 doesn't have players because GGG told all the POE1 plyers to pound sand last week. They told them there would be no updates for the foreseeable future and that killed any desire to play. They have made enough money in prior leagues to fund this lemon of a game. The naysayers also claim I am trying to turn this game into a POE sequel or something. It's not like it has the same name with just a number .... oh .... Yeah I want it to be a sequel and better. The naysayers are trying to turn it into another Diablo 4. Personally I would like the game to retain its identity but hey, that is just me maybe. All the naysayers are drive-by players that will be off playing the next best game a month from now and meanwhile GGG has told its loyal customers that they could care less about them. It wont be too long before they realize what a blunder that was. Maybe then we get what GGG's original stated goal was, an extension and expansion to POE1. " 1. Will happen. 2. Absolutely not, now its opposite to what you say, glasscannons die, builds that invested into defenses are not. 3. Already have 6 portals, just not die. 4. It will be added overtime, why would they make very complex crafting before game even released? 5. ??? 6. waystone = map, what it has to do to scarabs??? 7. Might happen. 8. Nah. 9. Hope will happen, bosses are cool, maybe buff them even. 10. Do you understand things will change way more than once during this EA? 11. Cringe. 12. This one is weird, it makes sense but will not happen. 13. Play the game, you drop more than enough uncut gems. 14. Why? 15. Not happening. 16. Again, tree will change alot and not once, as rest of the game. 17. Life builds are viable, mostly because of items with %life. This might be changed. 18. Noone care that you want to farm delirium every map, not to say that you literally can, just use emotions on map. You want to make poe1 out of poe2, its not happening. PoE1 is there, go play it. |
