where is chris wilson?

Chris met a nice gal and he's probably just living life with her right now, after taking care of his work responsibilities of course.

if I were him I'd be travelling around the world with her when I had time.
He's out sailing the high seas on a super yacht made out of alpha edition Black Lotus's.

Maybe he grew up. Got too old for games.

He got enough money from tencent to never need to work again.
Delegation and found good people to do it.

Probably feels like Mark and Johnathan are better as faces of the company.

Possibly. Chris didn't ever seem to really love the spotlight, which is one of the reasons the community likes him so much.

Chris is still at GGG, though, as the Managing Director -- basically, he's stepped back from game development (which he mostly wasn't doing anyway) to focus on running the business side of the business. He's still there, he's just letting the people who actually make the game be the face of the game. And I think Mark and Jonathan are fine faces for the game; it's just that the game is in a bit of a rough place right now.
Stay sane, exiles!
theres been a campaign of hate against chris wilson in these forums ever since ruthless was announced.

"chris wilson is ruining poe with his 'vision'"

talking about how terrible he is, how he needs to leave, how hes ruined poe. dozens upon dozens of people, every single thread the 'vision' came up for so long. same way people are going for jonathan now. a toxic insane part of this forums community completely detached from the reality that chris was not responsible for the development of the game and had not been for 7+ years just hounded chris and shit talked him endlessly every day for months and months into years it feels like.

personally insulting and attacking this guy non stop. i wonder why we dont see or hear from him any more? i wonder why he stopped doing interviews and podcasts constantly?

now its jonathans turn, all the threads are coming out attacking him as a dev, as a manager, as a person. how toxic this forum has been with people not just criticising the game and saying 'hey the crafting system is shit' but going on hate rants, claiming poe 1 & 2 are shit, theyre never gonna play either trash game and they hope they both fail but theyre still in the forums every day for a month posting this in every thread they can.

i wonder why the devs arnt communicating with us?

even if people like chris and jonathan were above being emotionally affected by all this at some point it doesnt even make business sense to be public facing when you just being seen to exist draws mass negativity.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Exactly how an old boss I had was.

Eventually the company branched out into youtube for car repairs and what not. And he even said to me

"You think I want the spotlight on me? Guess who the public thinks the head of the company is? Cause I aint going online anywhere"

Some people just dont care for the spotlight and a bit of anonymity

Tbh don't blame him 1 bit for stepping away from the spotlight. You see the bad faith torches and pitchforks on reddit getting 7k upvotes when all the dumb Emperion wannabes believed that GGG took all their loot because Empy and his sycophant/group went from 50,000 unique items per map to 5,000. Playing a goofy distorted and ultimately brainless form of the game "because we can make the game look and play stupid: so we should" and insisting that it remain goofy and brainless. Going ape shit over much needed nerfs.

If I had made POE1 intending to be a specific thing and a bunch of people who don't get the first concepts of game design started calling me a liar because Empy told them that its a disaster for the common player if Empy isn't getting 50,000 uniques per map by making the game look stupid, and by extension the developers look bad. Well if it had been me... I would have gone gangster on them.

Let them have the dumb thing they want then use the proceeds and profits from milking those kinds of players to fund a different game that isn't for cookie clicker lovers. Something I could be proud of. Let me tell you no one at GGG sees how stupid POE1 looks and doesn't find it at least a little offensive.

Which is what POE2 is supposed to be, but as dumb as the POE2 endgame quickly becomes I could see that not happening either unless they develop the spine to nerf and balance that they lacked with POE1. They need(ed) to scope POE2 competently instead of leaving all these really obvious compounding math issues and runaway feedback loops.

Maybe he knows?
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.
