A Message to Path of Exile 1 Players

As a long-time poe1 player I feel sad and fucked off at the same time
I won't buy another support pack for spitting in the face of an old poe1 players
yeah, when I kept checking the site to see if a new league had started, and it wasn't, over and over, I had kinda figured

dev issues, scope issues, things being way buggier than you had planned for are a fact of development, so I'm also not surprised either. I'm not gonna sit here and scream about it though, because I've absolutely been there at my job and I imagine yall are working thankless hours doing thankless work ("FIX THIS BUG" ad nauseum), so. yeah. don't worry about it, will still be checking in for a new Poe1 league and will also definitely start poe2 when that hits 1.0. :)

ggg doesnt even care anymore, the fomo for poe 2 blinded them so hard, they forgot that a good chunck of those new players are just because of the fomo, once the fomo ends it will lose alot of players, and poe1 players wont accept any shit that the throw at us anymore, ggg is going to regret this.

There's no real FOMO with PoE2. Unless you want to say the supporter packs are FOMO. Those can be gotten right up until the games goes F2P and exits Early Access, so not much FOMO there. If you mean hype, sure, hype will die down if they don't consistently update and keep players engaged. But it can be expected that the game receives a massive surge of players once it goes F2P after Early Access as well.

The game has consistently held over 200,000 players every single day until this last week (https://steamdb.info/app/2694490/charts/#1m). And it makes sense why it's dropping too. PoE2 needs work. It's fun, but it has issues. It needs a lot of the quality content that PoE has gotten over the years. There has been little updating done to the Early Access for the past two months, and with GGG not really sharing much information on what is being worked on and what to look forwards to, it's only to be expected that players have put the game down, some permanently, and some until there's an update.

If you compare PoE and PoE2, PoE2 has been a far greater success than PoE has ever achieved in terms of concurrent players. The only time PoE achieves higher numbers is the first few days right after a new league. After that it rapidly drops to sub 20k concurrent players on Steam (https://steamdb.info/app/238960/charts/#1y). You can argue that there's the standalone client, but that goes for PoE2 as well. Then there's console players. And those who bought the game on in example Epic Games Store.

To say they will regret this is silly. If anything, they could go all in on PoE2 right now and drop support for PoE and they'd likely be better off than trying to juggle the two, where both games suffer from slowed down updates. Luckily they aren't doing that, and will continue to do smaller updates to PoE for the foreseeable future, while they work on getting PoE2 to a state where it is genuinely the better of the two games. The framework for PoE2 is superior. It's modern, and with some time to cook, it will absolutely be the more future proof and evolved ARPG experience.

yes, their numbers are good, but let me tell you something, trust isnt something you easily regain after so many lies and broken promesis, and they lost trust of alot of players, majority of poe1 players hated their actions and felt betrayed by them, sure, if they want they could focus on poe2 and end poe1, but then what? they would loss like 90% of poe1 players if they did that, they would lose the trust of even more people, and that would reflect on pack sales and point sales, their numbers wont be big forever, its not about now, its about after that, a company that cant keep up simple promesis and keeps bulshiting players with lies and lies and more lies cant be trusted, poe 1 players already lost 80-90% of their purchases since poe2 has barely 10-20% the amount of skins and stash tabs of poe 1, they "will" add that in the future, or at least is what they are saying, i cant belive their words anymore, and i'm not the only one, poe2 need alot of updates to be barely equal to poe 1, atm poe 2 is crude, it has literally nothing, its missing literally everything, its a boring game that has no content, the best thing they made in poe 2 atm is the acts, and its not about playing them, its about how they were made, in my point of view they will regret that decision in the future, if they stop support for poe 1 then? ooh boy, if they do that it will be a massive turmoil, the moment they do that things will go down the leader and ggg will feel how bad was their mistake.

What a cope
Sad to hear things are going this way.

I'll just play other games until you guys get things sorted out.
I'm so disappointed.
You promised that PoE 2 development will not change anything for PoE 1 but it did and not a little.

I hate PoE 2 for two reasons :
- I have no fun playing it !
- It made you abandon your only good game !

PS: I even launched again D3. I didn't play it for years.

thanks for the transparency, much appreciated.

so we are stuck with a joystick game, it's playable with keyboard but better played with a controller.
i would have never guessed that you fall for feature creep (again).

but whatever, doesn't make sense to blame you for your openness, still love you guys.

Better go play diablo, or even better, bring Chris Wilson back.

A friendly reminder: Chris Wilson sold the company, although he knew what the consequences for the game or their backers would be. Don't try to glorify people who can be judged by their actions leaving nothing to glorify: He chose the money.

chris chose a safe salary for his employees for the years to come and some safety for the company when those idiots on reddit pitchforked his companies' suppport down to a minimum again cause something crazy they just did didn't work out.

yes, he also got alot of cash but eventually that's for spending most of his life dedicated to the game and being extremely successful.
