Numbers are absolutely plummeting

poe1 is years ahead of poe2...the two games dont even compare. its sad that the devs focus so much on the inferior game rather than the game that made them rich because it was that good. there was never a need for poe2 to begin with. just update poe with the graphics from poe2 and call it a day.
and before someone brings up steam numbers and how poe2 has so much more...poe2 numbers include Chinese players also. in poe1 chinese players have their own server so they were never included in the numbers

ben gave some good feedback, i hope GGG is listening

"inferior game"

Right, because inferior games have double the players what the superior game has ever achieved, and held on to those players for longer than the vast majority of new games.

Makes complete sense

Bots. Most of them are, probably, bots farming for certain services. The irony of that for an Early Access game is not lost on me.

yeah i know. i just said it because so many people keep parroting " but but according to the steam numbers poe2 is so much more popular than poe ever was"

There's the same RMT bots in POE1. Did someone hit you in the head with a frying pan or something?

Meh its more like people are done now. Most sweaty and halfway sweaty dudes cleared all, did all, build their character and stopped now. There is nothing to see after finishing the two viable builds in the game.

EA league was quite active for almost two months. poe1? lol.

and please stop it with the bots, you think poe1 don't have those?

Yea most are done with the conclusion poe2 was a big mistake...

Theres much more than 2 viable builds, I know, used em.

And I don't think that's the conclusion most people have come to, the games literally STILL, 2 months later, got a population that rivals most POE1 leagues that's ever existed.

But wait... nvm no you're right, these people are definitely like "alright, I'm going to make my 5th character, just to be sure that the game sucks, gotta drop another couple hundred hours at least"

"Just gotta find a few more things that suck with it, and then it'll be officially terrible"

Mainlining the cope I see

Fanboys will always find something positive but indeed the endgame is horrible in it's current state which reflects in the player retention. Just not enough depth to keep playing. In the meantime a full radio silence from the developers who probably are still on holiday.

Also they easily lost 100k+ players when they started bricking entire builds mid early access without free respecs to compensate.

They also managed to kill build diversity, a cornerstone of POE1, by making magic find an almost mandatory stat on gear if you want to get decent loot.

For sure, a prefix and a suffix on a helm and ring or 2 rings nearly reaching the MF softcap just destroyed all the build diveristy of this already shallow game.

Feels like I'm spinning my wheels and the game hates my guts. I've missed 2 purple omens because they're 20k. I've bricked thousands of good items because crafting is a joke. I've really just moved sideways and wasted my time the last two weeks.
I was playing/actively experimenting in anticipation of new content and the restart but now it looks pretty clear we're not getting it in Feb, maybe not even in March (I'm expecting the POE1 league to be maybe next week?)

MH:Wilds drops in 2 weeks. Hopefully they don't release the content while I'm in the middle of that or I guess I'll be missing the restart I've been waiting for.

Would be really nice if we had any kind of an accurate timeline. Either anchor a release around timeline or around scope. We're into month 3 and have no indication of either. That is not the expectation that was set with the '6-12 months until it's a full game' messaging.
Players who participate in Early Access (EA) games should have more tolerance than those who wait for the official release. By joining early, they gain access to unfinished content, often filled with bugs, balancing issues, and missing features. Unlike players who purchase a fully developed game at launch, EA participants are essentially testers, helping developers refine the experience. They should expect technical problems and evolving mechanics rather than a polished final product.

Moreover, EA players often provide valuable feedback that directly influences a game’s development. Their input helps developers fine-tune gameplay, fix critical issues, and shape the final version based on community suggestions. In contrast, players who wait for the official release expect a complete, stable product, free from major flaws. Complaining about incomplete content or minor bugs in an EA game ignores its very purpose—continuous improvement through player participation.

Ultimately, choosing to enter Early Access means accepting the risks and responsibilities that come with it. Patience and understanding are essential, as development takes time. While criticism is important, EA players should approach the experience with the mindset of assisting in game development rather than expecting perfection from the start.

Ok, i will reformulate it, so a non poe1 veteran may understand. There are two builds ingame that, without a doubt dwarf all others in performance, those two are: statstacker with heralds and archmage(sometimes combined with statstacker).

You can play those two with a multitude of classes, but they are in essence the same builds.

Yes you can clear the game with a mace warrior or even an infernalist chaos DoT, but you will be slower and less efficient by a big margin. Most players optimize away from inefficient gameplay because of currency and fomo, its just a fact of life. Look at the current class balance (protipp: there is none ;) )

And i also still play sometimes, because i like the game, but my two characters are "done"
Current Build: Penance Brand
God build?! https://pobb.in/bO32dZtLjji5
Even if the game was in a significantly better state than it is now numbers would still be about the same.

People get bored to tears of a league after about a month, you can check poe 1 steamcharts to confirm this.
