Concurrent player numbers are deceptive

chinese players are players playing the game. so the conc players isnt deceptive, its actual people playing.

it just means that poe1s conc player count was always much higher than the steam numbers showed because it failed to include them along with not including the large group of people on standalone.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

The game was sold as an ARPG Looter with a focus on trading, and the game actually revolves around that. Receiving feedback that the game is full of bots, more than normal players, manipulating the game's economy is extremely valid feedback and useful information for those thinking about starting the game, knowing in advance that the game does not deliver what it promises.

Think you're missing something. This whole thread is about player numbers being skewed because China doesn't have their own client. It's not about bots. Also, GGG has dealt with bots for a decade, they'll deal with them here.

This is a feedback forum. That means feedback for the devs, not "vague warnings to other players".
what's deceptive exactly? cause i don't get it.

Dumb people are using player concurrent numbers to "own" people with legitimate (or illegitimate, idc anymore) concerns for the game...

It's deceptive because PoE1 has numbers split between China and the rest of the world, while currently, PoE2 includes all players from China and elsewhere in it's Steam concurrent numbers, making it seem higher than it really is.

At this point, just ignore anyone saying either "dead game" or "but player retention" and you'll be fine.

Now Chinese players don't have their own client yet, and they're playing on the steam version/standalone version with us

This is why the numbers seem higher than they actually are, but in reality, the game isn't that successful or popular

So please stop using arguments that are based on the player count

American players don't have their own client "yet" either, which is skewing the numbers even more. And I actually read yesterday that the French players don't have their own clients either, which also skews the numbers...(???) Not to mention the Swedish, Danish or South African players...(???)

I seriously don't get your point here. The numbers NOW versus the numbers at LAUNCH have nothing to do with a Chinese client or not. Or are you just stuck on comparing the numbers to PoE 1 numbers? There are SO many ways we could ridicule that comparison too, so I urge you not to go there.

I'm failing to see what your point is. I've never mentioned anything about retention rates.

Which is even more astonishing.

So, as a world-wide game, launching in every corner of the world, Chinese players/numbers shouldn't be taken into account because...? They had their own client in PoE 1?

I guess we are two halfwits here, failing to see each others points. Bless us.

People who're comparing PoE 1 numbers to PoE 2 numbers are unaware of the situation, that's the point.

I guessed so.

Are they aware that PoE 1 has been out for 10+ years, gathering players the whole time? Are they aware that PoE 2 is half-baked, early access game that is year(s) from being complete?

PoE 2 is currently boring as hell (IMO) and I can't wait for another PoE 1 league, but this blackmailing campaign is very strange to me, and I struggle to find the reason behind it. And I can't really see many players comparing the two numbers, but I have been zoning out recently, so I might've missed something.

Anyhow, I think PoE 1 3.26 numbers will surprise a lot of people.
