one very annoyng bug is the omen that prevents 7.5% xp loss doesn t work in simulcrum.

" I'll keep upvoting this kind of post but by now it's not like they haven't read it. Either they just can't do anything about it (which is very bad) or they really don't care (which is also very bad). |

Another patch, each time it's like "ooooh, am i gonna be allowed to play the game today ?" as last time destroyed my build.
But nop, this time it's fine, only bugfixes/QoL as it was said, so nice patch, thank you |

If you are going to patch, please put some sort of maintenance notice in game. I got kicked out of the map that I was doing and lost it because the game
completely closed, steam updated it and when I came back, nothing was there. Last edited by Saki#2511 on Jan 24, 2025, 8:58:09 AM

On Crashes and 100% CPU Usage in Path of Exile 2
The crashes in Path of Exile 2 seem to be primarily related to excessive CPU usage rather than GPU-related issues, as suggested in the patch notes. The game is consistently maxing out CPU resources, leading to bottlenecks and instability. This indicates a potential optimization issue that affects both performance and system stability. Possible Causes: Inefficient Thread Management: The game might not be effectively utilizing all available CPU cores, causing overload on one or more threads while others remain underutilized. CPU-Intensive Graphics Settings: Certain graphics features like dynamic shadows, physics simulations, or advanced AI calculations can place a heavy load on the CPU, even if the GPU handles rendering tasks efficiently. DirectX 12 Overhead: While DirectX 12 provides advanced capabilities, its multi-threaded nature can introduce significant CPU overhead if not properly optimized, potentially causing issues for some players. Inefficient Resource Handling: Poor memory allocation or data streaming can force the CPU to compensate for slow operations, further increasing the load. Temporary Solutions Recommended: Switch to DirectX 11: Many players report improved stability and lower CPU usage when using DirectX 11 instead of DirectX 12. Enable FPS Limiting: Capping the frame rate can reduce CPU overhead by preventing unnecessary rendering cycles. Adjust Graphics Settings: Lower settings like shadows, physics, and particle effects to significantly reduce CPU demands. Close Background Applications: Ensure no other processes are competing for CPU resources while the game is running. Monitor Resource Usage: Use tools like MSI Afterburner or Task Manager to identify unusual CPU usage patterns while the game is running. Developer Considerations: While the --ex-crash-report option introduced in the patch is a helpful debugging tool, it doesn’t address the underlying issue of high CPU utilization. The development team should prioritize optimizing CPU performance, focusing on thread management and resource allocation. My Personal Experience: I personally tried everything, but nothing worked. Unfortunately, I ended up uninstalling the game and plan to return only for the official release, when I hope everything will be more stable. | |
Patch has added a detection function for further logging of this crash BUT ONLY FOR DX12.
They still do not accept that this crash happens on DX11 and Vulkan too, they still do not want to accept that their own engine is at fault... They want your PC to be their test device. Why would GGG risk their own hardware when we -the paying customers- can do it? Just run the game and crash a lot and brick your PC... Guess that's why they haven't been adding the workarounds in... So GGG wants you to disable the workarounds that stop you from hard crashing, hard crash, risk bricking your PC, so that they can gather "reports". The reports they should have collected during the testing period of the game. Dear GGG, Enough is enough. We-as paying customers- have the right to know: 1) What went wrong? 2) What you are doing to fix it? 3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem? 4) What triggers have you discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds) 5) What is your estimated time of fix? 6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period? 7) What you will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue? 8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game? To other paying customers like me who have spent their money on this faulty product: As long as GGG is not interested in open communication our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1. What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there.
