It's a mistake to only make big balance changes with PoE1 leagues mentality

I truly believe this is one of the worst decisions made so far. Early access is the perfect opportunity to make sweeping changes at any point. This should be expected by the players.

Treating this the same as live Path of Exile (1) leagues and not nerfing until a new league is just wasting time.

While I'm happy with the large patch, it still hasn't really given me much motivation to play until the new content patch with large balance changes. The game hasn't changed in a meaningful way.

I don't see any benefit to leaving this "league" as it is for any longer. This is just wasting potential time to balance and test in a planned 6-12 month period. Given we are coming up to 2 months already, with it being likely that the content is not released for a few more weeks, that is ~3 months without significant balance changes to a game that desperately needs it. Then extrapolating out, another 2-3 months between the next one and we are at 6 months already. Giving only up to 4 times that significant balance changes are allowed to happen.

Please reconsider this approach. Change in beta should be big and often.

Agree ^^

Yes but I think they explained themselves a bit in the GGG interview w/ the 2 pro-streamers... or at least you can glean from the interview why they decided this way I think...i.e. all those Spark builds, OP stuff, Monk, whatever will whine whine whine about it...

[
So... by "merging" this nerf w/ the patch of new content (Druid, Templar, Maruauder -- etc) at least it won't hit as hard overall

It's not bad "compromise" really?

Agreed, don't feel restricted by the economy to make sweeping changes or nerfs.

The reason they aren't pursuing this approach is primarily driven by marketing strategy. They want to leverage the return of the player base with the release of a new update, showcasing both the update itself and new content available for purchase, such as premium supporter packs, at the launch of the leagues.

Additionally, this strategy benefits them in terms of third parties. With the league reset and sweeping changes that encourage players to try new or similar characters, their third-party affiliates can adjust RMT pricing, resulting in increased profits.

That's the reality.

That’s a really good point.
OP is under the assumption that we are looking at 3-4 months between "leagues" in the EA. This is likely not the case, as it wasn't the case in PoE 1 Beta either.

Leauges can happen whenever, wherever, assuming they are ready. Past this first initial hill, this might translate to every single month or every two months. We simply don't know.

And no.....its not a mistake to make big sweeping changes as infrequently as humanly possible: there is nothing players hate more than having all their content and characters nullified. Whether they should be expecting it or not is rather irrelevant.

Plus, with less frequent large updates, those updates can be REALLY large and tackle a great many issues that may be further fine tuned via hotfixes and future small patches.

Also....pretty much every EA or beta I've ever played in has worked in this way: major updates have a pretty wide gap between them, with many many small tweaks and patches. Success of major changes cannot be measured in short spurts of time...
Starting anew....with PoE 2

Well ya. It's a "compromise" -- like I said above basically.
