Should GGG balance around them?

The build this person is using is incredibly good at doing maps, but he was punished by trial mechanics and ultimately failed the boss due to the terribly designed honour mechanic. It's amazing that he lasted that long, lol

Well, the honor system is something different. Here you either have to avoid everything or do enough damage to delete the boss. But there is always to option to do Ultimatum instead for the ascendancy. Also, some adjustments with relics could help to make it easier.

Yeah, the whole instantly deleting things is what's frustrating. Corrupting Cry is good, scales a little bit, does maps really well, but just isn't enough to delete bosses fast enough to save you from your already low amount of honour due to hp/honour scaling. You can play incredibly well and do what should be a reasonable amount of damage, but still lose in an instant due to honour.

Hopefully it will get a balance pass that will help it along, as it currently doesn't feel like it's scaling according to the effort involved. Like Baumi said, it seems like it's the intended design direction for the warcry nodes for the warbringer, but it seems undertuned.

I still managed to stick it out for 18 minutes.

whatever people have to say, i will say i have respect for you. 18 minutes fighting the boss and having to deal with the bullet hell. i'd probably run out of honour in a jiffy or panic and start having a series of cascading mistakes.

Well, I have hundreds of hours in Souls games, even more hours particularly in Elden Ring, so I guess this helps, given the state of PvP. I don't play actual bullet hell games. I also had the luxury of a build being able to deal damage in an AoE while moving, so it was a lot easier that way. Still, appreciate the sentiment, thanks.

the forums can be filled with people who are toxic or are simply trolling. i used to get upset but then i just learned to identify bad actors and not take them seriously.

sometimes i feel that people have forgotten how its like to be nice to each other, which is a shame. i definitely will criticize something i feel needs criticizing, conversely if i see something worthy of praise i do so accordingly.

cheers.

Here I think it is important to differentiate. Balancing Trials, yes. Balancing skills, in general yes, but maybe not in the way I interpret what you typed (but I may be misinterpreting it).

There are some skills that are exceptionally good clear skills, perfect for mapping. And then there are some excellent single target skills. And many in between. That is by design. So you will never see a PoE where every skill is good at both. There are some, but the goal is not to balance every skill to do everything.

Corrupting Cry is a typical clear skill that is terrible for bosses.

I absolutely agree. If it fits their design intent for it to be more of a clearing skill, that's fine. Sometimes we get lost in comparing apples to oranges. For example comparing spark to corrupting cry. Hopefully they are happy with where they finally end up with all skills. Right now, corrupting cry or not, the trial really is exceptionally brutal for some builds and piss easy for others. I'm just truly amazed that someone can hang in there on a boss fight for 18 minutes with the honour mechanic and not come out on top.

Err, no. Corrupting Cry is not for clear, at all. The explosions are for clear. The entire interaction is that corpses pop when you Warcry, this has nothing to do with Corrupting Cry in particular. It's just the comfiest way of doing it. Given that it's completely endgame viable in PoE 1 where it gets proper scaling, that argument imo doesn't hold.

Unfortunately, we have to detach poe 2 from poe 1. Power siphon, for example, is delicious in poe 1, but in poe 2 it's.... oof

With that in mind, it's still early in early access, so everything can change. I'm a huge lover of corrupting cry and I'm gonna take it as far as I can go, but I'm definitely hoping it will get some love.

It needs a 4-5x increase in base damage or better scaling options, that'd put it in a good spot where it feels good to use but doesn't come close to trivialising any boss, with around 50k-100k expected DPS. As it stands, all it currently needs is some damage. Everything else surrounding it imo is in a good spot already.
