You're supposed to defer it to reduce the price until you're able to afford it.
But yeah, deferring is kind of a weird way to time-gate player, and the invitation is chance-based unlike other pinnacle bosses' keys so it can take forever to find one if you're unlucky. I think they should put some sort of pity system or something. Regrettably, I refrain from engaging with nescient individuals who proffer fatuous commentary whilst concealing their profiles.
