Feedback after 120+ hours
After 120+ hours of PoE2 coming from D4.
1) The campaign feels good. The second play through isn't particularly interesting but when proper acts 4-6 come out it'll be fine. 2) The end game feels awful. Experience beyond 65 is slow, gear drops are nonexistent, and currency is also rare so you can't even reliably buy yourself into better gear. I need Divine Orbs to trade for better gear and have seen exactly 1 in 120+ hours. 3) The "crafting" system is one of the worst I've seen in any ARPG ever. It's just a gambling system that isn't worth engaging in but somehow worse than the same system in D4. 4) Ascension Map items are so rare that I can't even repeatedly attempt to gain my 3rd Ascension. I've seen 1 Barya since reaching Endgame. Gatekeeping character progression behind map drops is ridiculous. 5) Dying on an Endgame map removing massive chunks of experience is incredibly disrespectful of my time and energy making an already impossibly slow leveling experience into a completely miserable one. If my xp/hr in game is to be trusted, losing an hour or more worth of experience to a random crit from an offscreen ranged enemy I can't see is one of the worst experiences. 6) Enemy corpses exploding and killing you should be removed from this game and every ARPG in the industry. It provides nothing fun to the game and only stands to punish players for not jumping away from any enemy when it dies. 7) The game constantly crashing to desktop during normal play and punishing me for it is ridiculous. I lose maps and experience on the regular because the game is unstable. From what I have experienced so far across getting two characters into Endgame it seems that GGG a) has made a great campaign for an ARPG that I look forward to finishing when acts 4-6 happen and b) has absolutely no interest in players actually having any fun in the Endgame content and seems to have actively made that experience awful in as many ways as possible. I can only hope that a large future patch makes Endgame way more enjoyable and way less deliberately punishing.
