Why everything FORCES you do go ES ?

you can go mom and ci now tho right? ive not tried it but 100% of damage taken from mana before life, with ci you have 1 life, so you got like 12k es and then when that all goes the damage hits that 1 life and is fully redirected to your 5k mana pool where you can take another boatload of damage surely?

its a gear based defence that competes in the triad of es, armour and evasion. life and es are not really 2 alternate options.







grim needs taken to the yard and buried. armour needs massive buffs, i dunno what to make of evasion its sort of been both rly good and rly bad at the same time since they fixed it back in poe1 open beta. its a mechanic that manages to be problematic both ways at once and never really in a satisfying spot.

es needs nerfed but i think its more that armour needs buffed and im surprised that after so many efforts were made to fix this trio of defences in poe1 that we seem to have gone backwards to some of the worst moments of poe1 defence balance.

its sort of confusing but maybe what we are just seeing is that things like this are just thrown together. it was a rush to get something playable done for the EA launch, they had to scrap acts 4-6, we dont have the base items, we dont have the classes and ascendancies. i just think so much of the balance atm is just winging it. were doing the testing right now, and thats fine its EA, thats what were here for.

If they nerf ES I don't know what people are going to play. Straight life / evasion builds are absolutely abysmal.

What they should do is keep ES where it is and buff everything else. Even with ES you still have to play somewhat smart not to die in endgame. That's how it should be. We shouldn't dumb down every single layer of defense until every map is a no-hit run or failure.

I theorycrafted a build based around that but conversion from ES to Mana means you lose every advantages you had from +X% to Max ES . Then trying to get a huge mana pool , full mana recoup and so on while spending tons of points on the CI aspect ? That passive point spending gets out of control quite fast .

Anyway CI is perfectly fine as it is already , no need to slap MOM on top of it , and even if the exploits around CI ends up being nerfed i will main it regardless .
