Dealing With Conjures Lightning Storm on Bosses.

I have no idea how to deal with this affix on bosses. It seems to strike randomly, and the indicators for it must be incredibly faint because I've never really seen it. Anyways, it basically one-shot me despite having almost 5000 ES and being resist-capped. I was fighting Doryani in the Stone Citadel on a 15, it was going fine until he swapped to his machine, which for some reason has different affixes than Doryani himself. Doryani had increased critical strikes, machine had conjure lightning which was odd but w/e. Anyways by the time I notice it says conjures lightning it immediately blaps me once with it and gg. I'm playing ice strike monk so i kind of have to be in melee. I guess freezing the boss doesn't postpone it either as he was frozen when i died, yet the lightning still goes off. I didn't even really have crazy affixes on the waystone as i wanted to be cautious to ensure i killed the boss, which as previously stated went poorly. This isn't the first time I've died to this interaction and honestly have learned nothing from the encounter because it hits once, boom dead and kicked from the map.

Any tips would be appreciated, not sure what I am missing, I'm sure there is an indicator but its so incredibly faint and with all the other chaos going on i genuinely could not see it. My thinking is also maybe since the boss model is so large it spawned in sync with model making it virtually invisible. This affix on bosses has pretty much been a GG go next angle for me, despite plowing through most content.

This should definitely be checked. If I have a rare with this affix, I'm 100% death once it's on the screen. Resistance does not seem to be working. 75% here, around 5k HP with ES.
The periodic lightning strikes?

1) There are indicators where they will strike. Hard to notice in battle, sure, but they're there.

2) If you're constantly moving they always miss you (with 20% movement speed at least).

3) They're periodic, so if you get the rythm in you should be able to predict when they strike (if you have to stop to attack).

4) Dodgeroll out of it.
