I think Vaal Factory is actually the worst map ever designed by GGG. Map is insanely huge for no reason, and on top of that its a damn labyrinth also for no reason.

Whit my warrior feel horribly slow even wearing 30% speed boots lmao, it is actually a horrible experience. Also have a monk which is for sure faster but that doesnt make that map feel better lmao

Please reduce it in like 50% or just delete it out of end game

I dunno, tower and augury both give it a pretty firm run for the title.

EDIT: Hot take, but I don't mind having one or two bad maps around, because they make the good ones shine so much brighter when you get to them. So long as there are more good than bad. Doom Eternal for example, second through fourth level are absolute **barf** tier content, then you get to super gore nest and arc complex and its just absolutely on.

Leave Augury alone! that's one of my favorite common maps.. just a circle within a circle designed by a kindergartener.

Try it with minions in tow.

So much door.
I think my least favorite so far are the towers.

You get a narrow walkway, in a place full of Vaal casters that shoot cold attacks down it, which can freeze you. Lots of stuff doesn't work well with the doorways. Not just minions, but stuff like Flame Wall won't position itself how it normally would. And so on.

Beyond that, the map is considered like an outdoor one, so they feel the need to show you that outside of each tower, meaning you can't see what's in the room. If it were a nice indoor map, like an underground cavern, the top would be cut off and you could see. But not on those stupid tower maps.

And then there's the quantity of them. So many towers, all use this map type, so you see it far more often than any other type.

For sure man
I feel that there is a lot that has to change in maps, At least in the ones that people generally mention here. They dont really go well with the mobs abilities and the way that the games is supposed to play, like in general the map layouts feel like an annoyance.

For example in AUGURY the part i hate the most is the 5 - 6 seconds of level pulling actually. Not saying that the layout is the best but for me thats what triggers me when i go in into that map. Like actually Diablo 4 even changed those types of mechanics or made them shorter

In VAAL FACTORY is just waaaay too big, and also there are zones on the map that are completely empty of mobs and that is basically looks more like a labyrinth than an actual factory lol.

Also BLOOM FIELDS has sooo many little rocks that are covered with flowers that you would think that you can move across but in reality they are solid terrain and on top of that you have the coloured flower dudes spittig poison at you. Dont really dislike the map but I just feel that it has a bit much of little clutter around sometimes

Also in WOODLAND you have this Autumn/Fall coloured terrain that melds perfectly with the abilities of the brown/yellowish poison dudes that throw stuff at you and throw these little bombs. The map layout is okay but same deal...feel better becaus its a bit more open and shorter than others

Just personal opinions here, no salt, been loving the game so far but sometimes simple thing go a long way.

Man yea they need to do something about them, for some warriors going into some of the rooms is basically a death sentence lol, density is also weird
I grew to hate every map with trees in it, even more than the indoor labyrinthine ones.

All of the 'woodland' maps are full of camouflaged ground clutter that you get mechanically stuck into and contain trees that get in the way of visibility. GGG needs to clean up these - at the very least cull away tree geometry more aggressively.

Most maps are very beautiful, but also horrible to play. If this was PoE 1 atlas, no-one would play 90% of PoE 2 maps more than once per league - grab the atlas point and never again open that thing.
When night falls
She cloaks the world
In impenetrable darkness
Legitimately one of the worst maps

For whatever reason I lose movement and attack speed every single time I enter this map. Feels like frame loss on top of it.

Then couple it with enemies who off screen nuke you with a billion hallways.

Bad design

On the other Hand we have Crypt that is basically a narrow corrido but its like 70% smaller which actually makes it feel better. Like when i get Crypt am like "hell yea EZ short map"

Allow me to introduce you to Vaal Foundry
at this point i don't know which is the worst. i mean there is a lot of issue with map generation.

for exemple the obstacle, visually 2 place identical, 1 you can pass , not the other; couple of thicket, rock texture, tree, door frame ..etc

a lot of map have this one, and it's horrible to navigate through...

second on atlas you can have a nice forest biome with 5 map appear, you think a nice forest one, then when mouse over map -> 2 augury, 2 decay , 1 mire ...

wtf where is forest ?

happen all the time.

btw all maze layout fell horrible, and the size of the map don't help..

if i should run a augury, vaal factory 1 map per 20 for reach a atlas area, it's fine , i enjoy run it, but +60% of my map are maze.. that's become horrible.

and about my first point, even non-maze map become maze .. so finaly all 100% map become large maze aera ....

only 2 i mean have no issue of "maze" and backtracking : ravine and sandpit.

( there is 2/3 other i don't remember name be just a bit big but have an "ok" layout)

Just wanted to point out another bad aspect of Vaal Factory (and Vaal Foundry). The enemies are darkly coloured, the walls and floor are darkly coloured, there's hardly any lighting and if you have Delirium active on the map some enemies are literally invisible on screen until you hit them and their health bar appears above them.

I thought my character was rubber-banding around until I realised it was several unseen enemies pushing me/blocking my path.
