Ascending is literally the worse video game experience I've ever had

I stopped playing after 200 hours because my character progression is locked behind a mechanic that i dont want to play and endgame is too punishing.

I provided my feedback in forum and steam and decided to wait. we'll see.

I'm currently trying to Ascend #3 at level 80. The TRAPS! I can do the monsters just fine, but the TRAPS take tons of my honor.

I hate this garbage trap, avoiding stuff to get to a lever somewhere I can't see and then avoiding more traps on the way back.

What a garbage system! I can't stand it.

JUST DIED AGAIN TO THE TRAPS....SO STUPID MECHANIC.

CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE US SOME INDICATION WHICH ROOMS AHEAD ARE TRAPS? YOU DEBUFFED MY MOVEMENT BY 25%...THEN I GET THE NEXT ROOM FULL OF FLAME THROWING TRAPS...NO INDICATION WHICH WAY IS THE LEVER...SO I RUN THROUGH THEM TWICE AND BLOW MY ENTIRE HONOR ON THE TRAPS.

I CANNOT ASCEND BECAUSE OF STUPID TRAP MECHANICS.

I give up. I quit the game. The stupid trap mechanics are insanely difficult to avoid, plus mobs around the traps. I blow through an entire honor bar in a matter of moments. I can't ascend my character, and no amount of "leveling" or gear will fix it.


Level 80 and you fail at it, yeah please stay away from the game it's definitely not for you.

3rd and 4th Ascendancy is just trolling, when average player count drops by 5k+ a day and your wondering why, that's why everyone said it everyday since day 0 and nearly a month goes by and basically you only managed to nerf the builds that run it... and take weeks off vacation which is about as long as the game had been out. Sad team left since it's tencent now.


Did 3rd trial at lvl77, with less than 3div budget as a monk, it does need adjustments, but ultimately it's a major skill issue.

I mapped until I got three 3rd Ascendancy drops in 1 hour around lvl 75. Felt the game was telling me to do this now. Did the three floor Sanctum in one try. Did the same for my fourth ascendancy at lvl 84. Had more issues with Ultimatum. Got d/c'd at 7/10 one Ultimatum run and had bad luck with debuffs on another but when I got all three fragments to try the Trial of Chaos boss, it was a one shot. My Monk has gear worth less than 1 Div. Only two of my skills are 4 linked.

I guess my feedback for GGG would be that the indication for when to safely run the 3rd and 4th Ascendancy's are off by 10ish levels.
It's too much RNG for a system with build breaking affixes.

I'm an armor based, block, melee class.

How am I supposed to deal with "you have no armor", "take 5% hp per hit".... and the other option is "you cant see the next afflictions" which means both the ones I mentioned can come hidden and you get one-shotted as you leap into mobs?

It isn't a skill issue when RNG can literally deny all you gear and talent points.

It's in a pretty bad spot right now for something you're supposed to acquire before endgame.

But yes, you can get lucky with RNG and breeze thru it. Not exactly good design tho.

This guy said yall have a skill issue running 61 level content at level 78. Might aswell just level to 99 for that lvl75 4th trial on your bad Monk, bc obviously a good Monk would do it under level and not over level and regular monks should do it at the regular level. If by git gud you mean skip and come back way later so everything is trivial, I think you are the ones who need get better. Now that I have several 90+ builds rust clear maxed map bosses. I still stand by my first statement as player counts continuously drop. Poe1 builds in poe2 run it like poe1 but easier, and poe2 builds die and lose everything 🤣

If to complete the Trial most players need to overlevel and comeback, something is very wrong with the activity.

First Floor of Trial of Sekhemas is a DPS check, if you have enough DPS to kill the Boss... it is doable at Lvl 22.

Second Floor gives nothing, and is kind trick, because depending on Boons and Affliction the run is bricked before get to the bosses. Both bosses are a PITA with AoE damage and if don't kill each other within seconds apart, the Megatron boss is silly to deal with. So, enough DPS to delete the Bosses or truck loads of patience... or OVERLEVEL.

Third Floor things start get boring. And the boss is a PITA because he moves to much. Enough poison resistance and be patiente. Otherwise Overlevel and delete with DPS.

Trial of Chaos is pure juice of RNG. Pending on the penalties avaliable the run will be smooth until get to the Wind beast OHKO Hurricane, if RNG turns out to be Chimera or Blood spitter, is doable at Level. Otherwise, OVERLEVEL.

Four Floor of Trial of Sekhemas is a resistance marathon, when you get there you are so bored that anything is good. Beating the boss is a meaning of delete him before the clock phase or have enough Movement Speed to outrun the clock, otherwise fail. Not fun at all.

Trialmaster easy peasy. If you were able to overcome three 10 room to open the door, he is kind easy, only real threat is the stoptime attack. Doable at level if you are able to beat the Hurricane spammer.

TL;DR - Ascendency being gated by unfun mechanics are total lame. Agree with the OP.
