Bind on trade
As, for one, really don't like the POE trading system (and the market manipulation that goes with it). Shocker I know...
I am sure a ton of people make a ton of currency (and real world money) from it and that any change to it will cause some push back from some. To me, all the constant price inflation and flips caused by bots really rubs me the wrong way. I was wondering if a "bind on trade" system ever was considered or if there would be some kind of issue it would cause that I am missing. What if an item was bound to an account once traded. You trade with someone something that dropped for you and that you are willing to part with and that is the end of that: it can't every be traded again. No flipping so no inflation caused by bots/whales as they could not just decide to control the market on anything anymore. It could just be a different mode, like SSF is. So all the ones that have a blast boting, scripting, flipping items and playing the economy could do it between themselves and the ones that are fed up with all the trading shenanigans could not have to deal with that while still being able to trade to some extent: if something drops for you, you can keep it, sell it or trade it, but if you get something from the market, then it's something you commit to keep as you can't flip it. To me this would be some kind of happy middle between SSF and non-SSF. Comments? Ideas? Insults? Last bumped on Dec 24, 2024, 10:46:43 PM

Bind on trade will do nothing to stop the bots and will hurt normal players.
Having the items remain available works against inflation by keeping the supply side high. Incidentally, so does bots flooding the markets with currency. Look at what happens to forum gold prices in Diablo 2 a few days after ladder starts to see that effect. The prices drop off a cliff. Once the new wears off, that's what will happen if the botting gets too aggressive. |

Bind on trade would prevent you from lending stuff to your friends to test out stuff on their builds.

" My point is that the prices are high in the first place because the bots buy low and sell high/set the price point. If they buy low and can't sell, then they just end up not buying. I genuinely don't see how this wouldn't help in stopping them... |

" The bots find items, too. The only way to stop them is to make all items and currency no-trade. But that kills the game. The economy will settle down in a few weeks. |
