Can we get an appear offline option please?

+1 sometimes I have bad days and I’ll get ticked off by any little thing. Rarely happens but would be nice to appear offline and not ruin friendships over a single bad day

Your argument assumes online games must enforce constant social interaction, but that’s an outdated take, especially for an ARPG like PoE 2, where the core gameplay is self-driven. Unlike an MMO, PoE2 isn’t built around persistent social interaction; most players spend the majority of their time grinding solo or in small groups.
An ‘appear offline’ option wouldn’t harm the game’s social aspects because PoE2 doesn’t require constant interaction in the first place. If someone wants to trade, use the economy, or play solo without being visible 24/7, that’s not entitlement, it’s just a different way to engage with the game. Your public transport analogy also doesn’t work here. PoE2 is more like a highway: you’re sharing the space with others, but you’re not required to stop and chat at every red light. An ‘appear offline’ option wouldn’t take away anyone’s ability to interact, but it would respect the fact that not everyone plays an ARPG for the same reasons. +1 to appear offline. Most of the game is solo play, during which I don't want to be bothered. When I want to play in a group or just hang out, then I'd switch to online mode.
Being online all the time means I'm being distracted during difficult encounters by invites. |

I need this so bad - have friends that take it very personally if they are online but we aren't grouped and doing whatever together. Its annoying, I know I can say no, but I want to be able to play without anyone knowing I'm on. Guilt free.

I think at release you can create a private league, it's not quite the same as offline. But in path of exile realities offline mode is impossible and basically useless. If you don't like to play with trading, please welcome to SOLO SELF FOUND mode.
