"Rarity of items found" Ruin the game!

Can testify myself. Before today was struggling to sustain maps, had to waste time and currency like many players. Got a golden charm today, never even knew this existed, gives you +20IIR against rare/unique enemies and IMMEDIATELY saw a huge increase in both waystone/gear/currency drops, then a few maps later got a ring and crafted into a +38IIR ring, then began to have loot showers from some rare mobs poe1 style. Got multiple gemcutters, artificers, alchemists in short play session and multiple exalted/regal/vaal guaranteed per map. It's like the IIR on your gear is weighted many, many times more than whatever it says on your atlas tree or map mods. This is not balanced at all and the majority of players are rng locked into much slower progression and worse mapping experience overall through absolutely no fault of their own.

the gap is so bad.. without stacking item rarity you maybe drop 1 divine every 20-30 maps.. . we are already being informed of people with high item rarity like 600% dropping around 8-15 divines EVERY SINGLE MAP this is unexcuseable and even tho its early access considering GGG have all the testing they needed about item rarity from poe 1 .. . nothing can excuse this.. soon enough they will see 95% of players leaving the game because they can not afford any item and dont understand why they cant drop anything

It's almost like the IIR it says on your gear is not how it works in their algorithm, similar to the nonfunctional leech situation (different topic, seems like mobs have way too high leech resist). If the "baseline" currency drop is exactly if you equip 0IIR on your gear and its value is 1, 600%IIR should not make Divine rain down from the sky, that's more like 600 times higher not 6 times.

Unlike some mechanics that are new to poe2, they had 10+ years of data on currency drop rates from poe1 so the current state of MF is not really excusable. Then again we have the ascendancy trials that everyone hates these were from poe1 as well and worse than ever, so I don't know what's going on with them carrying over designs from the first game and somehow making them worse.

600% rarity doesnt really translate into +600% because its not linear.. because it convert lower tier currency that are already dropping like exalts and chaos orbs and gemcutters into raw divines... the more item rarity you have the more chance you have to convert even lower tier currency into say exalts or divines..

dont get me wrong i totally agree with you that there are many issues in poe 2 that are unexcuseable because GGG already had their testing in poe 1 .. such as

1: Trials
2: Energy shield vs life ? (i mean cmon remove all life from tree triple all the ES on tree ?) result: life = 2-4k life max , Es = 15-20k ES and even more.. anyone is surprised by that? how did GGG not see this? on top give ES better recovery than life and grim feast that doubles it. . great
3: undeath effect and modes from tier 17 maps..
4: visual clarity
5: loot? did they not say we wont need filter in poe 2? i cant see a thing the map is full of useless junk that worth completely nothing.
the list go on and on and on..

however.. . the situation with magicfind and item rarity is by far the worse of all of them combined.. it is so unfun.. theres no way to even play this game without stacking rarity if you dont stack rarity you simply not going to be able to get any half decent item

I'll add to this that we've got ourselves a nice little catch 22.

If you want to actually have good looting gear, the only way you're going to get it, is if you buy it. You will never get one as a drop, and you will never craft one.
All gear that is actually any good as a piece of looting gear, costs multiple divines.
In order for you to actually get the currency to buy these items, you need to already have these items.

Exactly.

All the changes to loot/crafting is just wasting more of my time to make things slower than in poe1. I realized very late how much I was blessed by RNG. When I killed Cruel Jamanra I got a sceptre with 55spirit (with 20% quality it's over 80 spirit), 3 minion skills, minion life etc. It was so OP the entire Cruel Act 3 became a total joke as I just steamrolled everything including the Viper boss. Many, many levels later, I'm STILL using that sceptre, it's that OP, as spirit and skill levels don't scale like damage numbers they're always useful.

Sure the lvl14 skeletal warriors could use a higher level but it's not necessary. The one time I got curious about it, I went on the trade site and searched for sceptres... well you can imagine my disappoint at 1. how garbage the items displayed on trade website are compared to my own and 2. how expensive anything semi-decent costs. So it looks now entirely possible that I will continue to use that Jamanra sceptre until the day I quit EA.

everything is so expensive because most people just moved into item rarity stacking which cause them to drop around 100 times more divines than you do.. so they basically out bid you .. you who dont use item rarity simply cant drop enough curency to keep up with the every day inflation .. .you find your self wasting entire day of your life farming 10-12 hours .. just to find out that all the currency you farmed that day is less than how much the item went up in price in that day.. . means you just farmed all day to go backward

I know right, the broken IIR imbalance right now can destroy the economy in this trade-enabled game and that's going to affect the experience of everyone from the hardest hardcore player to the most casual. Since GGG has been on vacation sicne 19Dec none of this is getting fixed until at least after New Year I fear. By then is it already too late to fix the inflation in the economy now? They've got a problem on their hands that has to be dealt with and the sooner the better.

Anyways it's really late in my time zone so logging off for the night. Merry Christmas to everyone actually wanting the game to be good and giving feedback on these forums.

Cerry Christmas and goodnight mate
I suspect that the biggest problem with Rarity [MF] is in the currency conversion formulas. While I may be wrong instead of MF having diminishing returns even early it seems to have INCREASING returns for each extra point.

If the above is true then I suspect a Dev flunked their PoE2 Math 101 course and needs a remedial course before they try again.

In terms of conversion maybe MF should be capped as having "at most triple" the number of high value currency that someone without MF would otherwise have?? Then you could have a logarithmic [diminishing returns] formula so that each point of MF is technically an improvement but the improvement is so marginal that it isn't worth the investment once you pass certain levels.

Note: If we are to save MF in any form I think all classes / builds / etc. need to be taken back to the drawing board so that everyone has roughly the same opportunity-cost of investing into MF. If that can't be done then removing MF from currency at least may be the best approach.

Just realized this myself. Being a fairly efficient map farmer myself i cannot outpace the price increase in the end game gear im trying to buy

50 divs for item mods i was eyeing that cost 50 ex about a week ago, or before people started pricing everything in divs.

And as we all know, you cant revert this

Oh well, was a good few weeks while it lasted

they can not revert it and tbh i dont think they will even fix it or change anything about it before the next expansion with new league .. . because they wont just delete all item rarity from already existing items... and it will take time for them to change unqiue items.. and they just wont do it.... and even if they will now by hear our prays and make it not apply to currency its just far too late .. . if my friends asked me if it worth to join the early access now id honest tell them nah dont waste your time wait for next expansion minimum
