REMOVING INFINITE ADS IN BOSSES
I spoken to a lot of players including some of my IRL friends. It feels like ACT 1 WAS properly tested. Movement, precision, tight cornering and spacing, the game feels good and calculated. Your winning because you can space the fights.
Act 2-3 begins a inevitable mistake in game design of throwing stuff at the player with no rhyme or reason. The very first boss of act2, the queen of disgust, colossus etc are all obnoxious fights that punish the player for playing in a strategic and calculated way. Why? To begin with RNG, a boss should never have RNG in their moves. This is compounded by the fact ads in this game are much faster then the player. When your trying to dodge RNG, dodge mechanics, and dodge the ads that infinitely spawn you get a problem that you can not focus on the boss. Each boss that spawns ads should have a CAPPED NUMBER AND DISPLAYED TO THE PLAYER. If you want to add breakpoints in the boss where they spawn minions that is fine. But that needs to be EXPLICITLY designed. I think it would be fine for a boss to summon ads every 10-15% of their HP, and no more then 7-8 at a time. This massively reduces the frustration that infinite ads bring. There is a reason act2-3 feel terrible. Take out your tedious BS out of the game. What makes souls games fun is that they are pattern based. Every pattern should be counterble. Last bumped on Dec 22, 2024, 12:16:47 AM

Ads can make a fight easier on some builds with a lot of CC, but we do not want easy fights, we want challenging and difficult fights that are consistent. In my view, a balanced fight that all builds can clear with skill is the goal... not some fights that are trivial on some builds but almost unwinnable on others.

They give flask charges. I know exactly which boss you mean, Queen of Filth is her name, and she's rather easy. Very predictable moveset and you can bait her rolling slam for a punish. I hate to say this, but this is a matter of "git gud". That boss is very fair.

" I was not speaking about her, she is fairly simple to beat, but I can see how many people would struggle with her also. If you read my post, you would understand why you cant Git Good. PS- reported for flaming. Keep your toxicity to yourself. If you got no constructive feedback on game design. |
